You're 100% correct, no need for the question-mark fit. I know the differences in barbs and benzos, the dangers, etc as I have the physical and emotional scars to prove it. I was just trying to give a simple explaination to what I thought was a simple question. I didn't think a side-by-side comparison of benzos vs barbs detailing what the LD50 of each might be and whether it's a floating point or fixed, what other chemicals or drugs potentiate them, etc. c'mon, relax. I was just giving a simplified answer.

As to nobody dying from benzos, from what i've read it is true that to overdose on a benzo alone is much more difficult than many other drugs, the opposite of barbs. OTOH, I think a lot of deaths (and major accidents) could be attributed to people who were on benzos and did stupid stuff like drinking & driving while on benzos (they DO boost your confidence & "make" you do things you'd never do otherwise. IME) or any other number of idiotic things people do when their inhibitions are reduced. I also know more than 2 people who wound up in the hospital from seizures induced by the cessation of xanax after a 2-year daily 2-4 MG daily dose 'habit'. It wouldn't exactly be correct to say that my friend died (he didn't in this case) from the benzos, but he wouldn't have had a seizure and wrecked his car (among a dozen other things) if not for the fact that he had been taking benzos. True, the cause was the stopping of the benzos, not the taking of them, but they were still involved. And i've known people who would never steal a single dollar while 'sober' pull all kinds of scams while on benzos. It seems to give some people the perception that they're perceived as better than normal, while everyone around them sees them as a stumbling idiot. (i'm talking about abusive use, not your normal doctor-recommended use and dosage).

The 2 chem families are enitely different animals, but both have dark sides that can really hurt you if you don't follow the directions closely. I hope this doesn't sound angry or flamish, it's not meant to be. I'm typing in a good mood with a on my face. This is just my experience over many decades, when barbs were still easily available (been thru those w/d's) and also have personally been down the benzo-w/d road to he11....
