I have had severe neck, back, shoulder pain with migraines for 18 years since a car wreck in 1986. I have been to my pcp for the last 14 years and got the usual treatment. Some hydro, soma, trigger points, referal to crackopactors, (Sadists). I went to a PM in the late 90's and got the epedurals, facett injections and ucky methadone. I'll never take that again. I quit him and went back to pcp. Since January, after the flu the pain is constant and the migraines make me feel like I'm having a stroke. Took matters into my own hands and went to a neurologist. ( Didn't know he was a PM) Now I have to take 4 mris, 2 mras,(what are they), emg, and cardio tommorow. He put me on Avinza 60mg that's supposed to help for 24 hrs. It doesn't. I need breakthrough meds beside Soma. What should I ask for? He is doing 2 injections on the 1st in my rt root ganglia. I am scared for sure now.

Morphine is not all that well absorbed orally, and a 60mg dose in a 24 hour period is not that much...imho.
Perhaps you need a higher dose, or a different med.. as well as breakthrough meds.

I would try the MS Contin.... It seems to be one of the better Morphine Oral Tablets... Take Care.

Get this,
My neuro/PM had his nurse call in zanaflex, 2 times a day. They know I already take soma. No breakthrough meds. What the heck, at least I can get good records for OP meds now. My favorite OP is closed now so I'm shopping. Heck, I just wanted to find out what is wrong with me. What is zanaflex?

It's a muscle relaxant.
Your doctor is ... being very conservative.
If you stick with him, he hopefully will budge.
If not, and he seems to be patronizing you, I'd look for a new doc.
