Is there any difference in the two? Are they just different manufacturers and do they have the same effect?

Both Lortab and Vicodin are hydrocodone/APAP combinations. Both of them come in various proportions of Hydro to APAP. That makes a lot of difference to many people. But essentially these are the same controlled substance (hydrocodone) mixed with the same non-narcotic analgesic (tylenol).
I'm a Norco 10/325 fan myself, there is way too much Tylenol in Vicodin.

I have always been prescribed Vicodin ES. I am getting my first delivery today of Norco 10/325. I'm hoping it works the same. After reading on here about too much tylenol being bad for your liver, I decided to switch. Has anyone else ever made this switch and noticed a difference in effect on pain? Better or worse? Or no difference? I'm assuming that the Norco is stronger, so should work better for pain.

What is Vicodin ES, 7.5/700? Something like that? So Norco has more hydro but less Tylenol. You may find this combination more effective, or maybe not. Everybody seems to react differently.
If you find it's not effective, you could try taking an Advil (ibuprofen) along with your Norco, or a couple of Aspirin. These will potentiate (increase) the analgesic effect of the hydro without zapping your liver with all that Tylenol.
Sometimes in the morning I take a couple of Alka Seltzer along with my Norco, which seems to make a big difference in getting the med into my system, especially at that time of day.

Hi.
If you look at the number (ex. 10/500) the first is the mg of hydrocodone, the second is the mg of Tylenol. That's it. No difference.

I have been using norco 10/325 but I think even that is tough on my stomach. I would like to try vicaprofen or a genaric equivelant.
Don't get me wrong the 10/325's have given me the best relief ever. Just wondering if anyone has suggestions or maybe a reputable site I may go to

Kittie,
I used to take Vic ES and then switched to norco's. I think the norco's are much better for various reasons. They have a little more hydro in them so they are stronger, they have much less APAP in them so they are so much more lighter on my stomach (they feel cleaner), and they are smaller....easier to swallow! As for the strength, you'll be able to take less Norco's...for example, if you took 2 Vic's you can probably take 1 1/2 Norco's...if you took 4 Vic's at a time, then you could probably take 3 Norco's and have the same effect(maybe even a little stronger).
Vic ES hydro= 7.5
Norco's hydro= 10
