Does anyone else take Fiorinal #3?
      #145520 - 03/08/04 12:23 PM

This medication works great for my daily headaches without making me lethargic, must be the caffiene. I don't see much posted about anyone taking this daily. Maybe there are many folks that can not tolerate the aspirin but I am fine with aspirin, I worry about the APAP in other meds plus, it does not work for my headaches. My local Doc wants to give me Hydro for the headaches and seems horrified at the Fiorinal w/Cod. so I get it from OP's. Does anyone else get this reaction?

Hi Lilly,
My PCP used to prescibe me Fiorinal #3 for my Migraines and it worked great until he switched me to Vicoprofen. For some reason my doctor hates to prescribe anything with codeine and prefers to prescribe hydro. He thinks the codeine was too addictive, personally I think Hydro is more addicting. Any OP like NWW or YOD will prescribe Fiorinal #3 with medical records. Hope you feel better. Take Care

Thanks R,
I, also thought Hydro was more addictive than codeine. My OP does prescribe it, even though my medical records show I am prescribed Hydro by my PCP. I feel like an odd ball since most people are taking Hydro (Norco). I just can't imagine why it would be more "risky"? for me to take F #3 than Norco daily.

I take it also, when I can get it. A neuro years ago told me that the butalbital was more dangerous than the codeine in fiorinal #3. I found it has always helped with my migraines when nothing else will work. I know how you feel about feeling like an oddball. My migraines are hard to control, through the numerous preventative meds tried the only one to help is Effexor SR. That's it.

I could only get this from a US Op with records, etc. I can't afford it any more, so it's a bit difficult for me to keep mine under control now, but a local doc is working with me somewhat.

I used to take it-only thing that worked for me but you would be hard pressed to find a doc today who would give you a script. My doc of 20 years actually told me a few years ago that they did not make that med any longer...I asked my pharmacist about that and he told me they were still making it as far as he knew...so the doc just wanted to cover his butt by not prescribing anything. He did however, give me Imitrex when it came on the market, and it does help with most of the headaches. I'm just glad I don't get them as often as I used to.

F3 is THE ONLY THING that works for my headaches!!!! My doc tried me on several other meds, which were MUCH stronger but did not work. I think he just wanted to prove to himself that I wasn't addicted. One of the meds (I don't remember the name) was so strong the pharmacy even took me to the side and warned me about how strong it was. It was strong alright, but it did nothing for my headaches. I ended up trashing it because it made me feel really wierd and I wasn't able to function as normal. I honestly don't know what the big deal is. It works, I can live with myself, my family can stand me, I can funciton and work as usual.......What's wrong with that!!

Where can Fiorcet, Fiornal #3 be purchased? Last ime I bought Fiorcet (Qty. 100 / $75.00). Came from a "Mexican pharmacy"! Let me know if you have any ideas or suggestions please! Works great on tension headaches! Thanks!

I have been taking fiorinal since 2001 for repeat excruciating headaches. They are the only thing that I have found that actually works. My pm doctor was the one to give me them after trying nearly everything. I started having really bad migrainous headaches after a neck injury. Sometimes, the headaches last for up to 3 days, but the fiorinal works every time. I say this medicine is a god send as I wouldn't be able to function properly without it. The only drawback from it is, if you use it daily (sometimes I have to) you get rebound headaches. I have never had any relief from a headache with hydro.
