USA Today always refers to OxyContin
      #146469 - 03/11/04 06:59 AM

Quote:

USA TODAY March 11th:---Illicit prescription drug use is on the rise, as Internet "pharmacies" peddle narcotics to anyone with a computer and a credit card. The Federal government says abuse of addictive painkillers is becoming an epidemic, citing an estimated 1.9 million people who took OxyContin for recreational use in 2002.

Why do they always refer to OxyContin?..I never see this offered at any OP....But they always use this as the example. It's exaggeration, and RATIONALIZATION by the current administration to further their crusade against pain sufferers......just my 2 cents........Buzz

Maybe, it is better they always refer to OxyContin so that hydro does not get as much press. OC is already a CII and the gov't. can't really crack down anymore on this drug.

I agree, it's impossible to get online. That is just the TIP OF THE ICEBERG of how the media mis-reports on its news. It goes much deeper than this.

Okay, I understand your point, but it's still giving a bad name for OxyContin and relating it to effective possession through the Internet and OP's or IOP's, which we know is not the case. There are people who legitimately and desperately need this medication and we can't afford to allow those people to lose their much-needed medication, just as we cannot afford to lose our much-needed medications. Do you see what I mean? Always a flip side, my friend. Always a flip side.

YA AND YOU CAN THANK THE RELATIVLY MINOR ABUSE(AS COMPARED TO MANY OTHER DRUGS IF YOU LOOK AT IT STATISTICALY)OXYCONTIN FOR THE UNREASONABLE CRACK DOWN ON ONLINE LEGAL MEDICATION PURCHASES

I do understand and as my previous 2 years of posts have said, the media is rediculous. I am not saying that USA Today is right or that is acceptable.

I sense some tension in your voice. Let's face it-there is a war going on and the U.S. is losing it's "war". Now we are cracking down on radio, TV, internet, you name it. I am for free speech and flameless replys.

While I am at it, anyone who likes the first ammendment (free speech) please sign this petition:

STOP FCC

Oh, trust me, the tension you may have detected is in no way, shape or form directed toward you. It's the ludicrousy of all of this mess that we are paying the price for, that's all.

And you've just got yourself one more person to add to your free speech petition! I just commented about that very subject to someone. Thank you!

I have been saying this for a LONG TIME and I wil say it AGAIN. NO RECORD OP'S WILL DESTROY purchases of narcotics ONLINE FOR EVERYBODY.

Some of these no record OP's are so shady its hard to believe that they are actually able to exist.

It just goes to show that we live in a democracy and that the rule of law applies to everyone. EVEN CROOKS.

Sometimes I wonder if the writers for magazines and newspapers intentionally mistate things for the purpose of sensationalism or if they are just ignorant on the subject matter of which they are writing. Maybe it's a combination of the two.
Of course, you can't blame them when they make their money by stiring up the undereducated, illinformed sheep that by and large compose our modern society.

An enigma or a figment of our imaginations...you liked that, eh? Dang, you are strange! LMAO!

You'll get used to my goofy sense of humor. At least I hope!

Okay, boys and girls, I'm on my 2nd med for this rheumatoid c*rap and it makes you dizzy, so I'm off to the sleeping quarters for a bit. You all behave while I'm away, you hear? And don't forget to fill me in all of the juicy details of the going-ons while I was gone.

If they re-schedule Hydrocodone aka "vicodin"(they always use that brand name) into a different class of drugs, it will be "all" OP's not just the "No Record" OP's that will suffer.......

(As most goverment cronies stand there and discuss this, with a Scotch in one hand, and a Xanax in the other)......Bz.
