I have posted several hundred times on the VIP board, but with my hubby retiring, I had to cut back on extras and gravitated back to the Free Board.
I posted a long series of stories about how a pain dr. refused to help me three times and then had me thrown in the drug lock down because he "said" I sounded suicidal.
That's it in a nutshell. I was quickly released and given all my paperwork, but the police picking me up was burned in my memory and in the memories of my neighbors forever.
I was furious down to my bone marrow.
I wrote everyone I could think of. The Texas State Board of Examiners didn't find any law that had been broken, but I did get several small rewards - such as the Arthritis Foundation won't recommend Dr. Z to any of their people.
Sometimes you just have to wait. There were people on the VIP board who sympathized with me, but I didn't get the feeling that they genuinely thought I would be able to get any action on this misdeed without spending a huge amount on high-powered lawyers. Those lawyers didn't want my case because there wasn't any catastrophic injury.
But I got a letter today from the Office for Civil Rights, Dept. of Health and Human Services, and they didn't see it quite the same way as the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners. They seem to think my civil rights were infringed. BTW, this is the same hospital that separated the Egyptian twins.
There is a good chance that the dr. and the hospital will be prosecuted! Isn't that fabulous? Don't give up. Keep pumping those letters out, and there's a chance someone will see it YOUR way. All right! Flavia

Flavia,
I don't know the specifics of what happened to you, but if you were committed without due cause you most definately have a case (and it certainly sounds that way if you were released that quickly). I work in social/health/human services and committing someone to a lock down is near impossible, even those that are so obvioulsy mentally ill and a danger to themselves or others. I can't believe this happened to you - you must have been terrified.
I'm glad that you pursued this, no one should have to suffer what you went through. Please keep fighting and let us know what happens.

Dear Flavia,
I wish you luck in a continued pursuit of bringing those responsible to justice; however it may come. So often in legal cases people will look to see if there is a cause to get into deep pockets. It's sad to find that justice can become weighed down by dollar incentive. Don't give up. It sometimes takes years, and can be quite taxing on a person, but justice will come. You have every reason to want some satisfaction, for yourself as well as the future victims of doctors such as that monster.
Hang in there. Fight the good fight.

Flavia,
do keep it up, and fight them for as long as you have the energy. We don't know each other, but whenever I see an injustice such as the one done to you it makes me sick.
I think I can speak for many here when I say we know what it's like not to be taken seriously for our pain. To be insulted on top of being ignored is just evil, and I wish you all the best.

Yes, something will definitely come of my hard work, because the letter came from the office of George W. Bush.
I told my former insurance co that it was in their best interest to pay my claim for the non-system dr. and the
prescriptions because at least it illustrated their intent to make the travesty right from their angle. We will see.
