Paxil CR and Wellburtin XL..
      #144751 - 03/05/04 01:40 PM

I just saw my PCP today and explained to him about my weight gain since I've been on the Paxil. He told me that many people have complained about that side affect and wrote me a prescription for Wellbutrin XL to take with the Paxil, than slowely ween me off it. He told me that the Wellbutrin has a low risk of side affects and should help me better. Has anyone tried this? Your opnions and comments are greatly appreciated! I know that Wellbutrin can coincide with alot of medications and I'm going to ask my pharmacist about that...

The side effects of Wellbutrin are horrible in my opinion. I switched to Zoloft the same way.... slowly tapering off the Wellbutrin. The wd's were terrible. That is something the Dr. failed to tell me. Good luck.

My best friend was on Wellbutrin for about 2 months and she was really dizzy and had dry mouth all the time, she did not lose weight but she felt terrible and she was still depressed. Took herself off the wellbutrin and she has not been dizzy eversince. I mean so bad that she fell down a few times!

Go to healthboards to research it further in the depression forum!

wow, i was switched from paxil to zoloft amd then had wellbutrin added with no period to w/d or anything. I'm one of the few that had a seizure from wellbutrin, but I found out now, I'm prone to seizures, so I don't know if it was that way to begine with or a side effect of the seizure. Watch for twitching. I eventually went straight from zoloft to effexor. That took a while to get used to. good luck. Check the online checkers too, I usually use at least two of them. www.costco.com; www.eckerds.com; www.drkoops.com

editted to add: I lost 30 lbs on the effexor too.

The Effexor is just the opposite for me. I'm going to ask to get off all those type of drugs. I cannot get cooled off, and my pillow and bed is damp when I get up. I have hot flashes, plus I have put on 20 lbs. My hair is always wringing wet. PLUS, I had ebbeded edema with it, and have to take Lasix for it. Also, when it begins to wear off, I feel awful. I don't care for this Effexor at all. Flavia
