I hope this is appropriate to post. I've been going through an enforced (ran out) withdrawl after many years of MS Contin use. After moving to another state I can not find a good doctor, and my previous doctor doesn't want to treat an out of state patient. After two days of hell I came here and found almost immediate relief by following the advice of others who have gone through w/ds. I actually feel human again after a few immodium tablets. Without the advice I found here I'd still be in agony. Tonight was really bad, too.
Thanks again to all,
Dp

Wow, glad to hear that you found some useful information here. That's what it's all about!
Just a question: To what degree did the immodium help your symptoms? Just the gastric disaster we all know and love (just kidding)? Or did the immodium also help with your feelings of low energy, anxiety, etc that typically accompany withdrawl?
Some people report that immodium helps with all symptoms, others report that it only relieves the stomache issues. Thanks for your input, davidp!

You will find more information than you ever thought possible around here. Welcome aboard!!
I do believe there's a thread that lists compassionate doctors and they're listed by state. Maybe you could find one there.

I was feeling much better 30 minutes after taking the immodium. Prior to that my arms hurt, my legs ached, I was really jittery, etc. This is day three and wasn't as bad as day two, but it was getting worse. I haven't slept more than an hour or two so far, but feel like I can tonight.
The stomach miseries were pretty much over last night .... prior to taking anything at all.
Thanks for the info on the doctors list. I've looked, but none are close.

Welcome David and could someone point me in the direction of that thread with the list of compassionate doctors? I did a search but can't seem to find it. Thanks!

Hi DAVID, I'M NEW TOO AND I HAD THE EXACT SAME EXPERIENCE YOU HAD (ONLY MINE WAS HYDRO)--I WAS READING THESE BOARDS AND FEELING COMPLETELY MISERABLE--AND THEN I FOUND ALL THAT INFO ON IMMODIUM FROM A "HYDRO HOLIDAY" THREAD--SO... I RUSHED OUT AND BOUGHT SOME AND IT LITERALLY SAVED ME! TOTALLY AMAZING HOW WELL IT WORKED -THE LEG AND BACK PAIN, THE MUSCLE CRAMPS, ETC.. ALL GONE!!
DITTOS ON THE "THANK YOU TO ALL" WHO CONTRIBUTED TO THAT POST--HONESTLY, I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE ENDED UP IN THE ER WERE IT NOT FOR THIS PLACE --YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST --HOPE
