Ebay/PayPal fake email!!!!
      #143979 - 03/03/04 09:06 AM

Just a warning for everyone~
I received an email that claimed to be from PayPal. It stated that an unauthorized third party had tried to access my account and gave a link to their site.
I suspected this was a fake from the start and forwarded it to PayPal. I received a response from PayPal within minutes stating this was a fake and that they were investigating the source. They also went on to further explain that if I did give any personal information then I would need to contact my bank, etc., and hope that they did not gain access to my funds.
Like I said, I was smart enough not to click on the link or give any info. Thank GOD!!
Just a tip~
I was told if it really is from PayPal, it will NOT say Dear PayPal valued customer or any greeting similar to this. PayPal uses your first and last name when addressing you. Great tip because this fake email did not address me by my name.
Watch out for this gang~boy are they getting good with these fakes!!!!

This have been going around for several years, they are fairly common - PayPal will NOT contact you and ask for any account info by email.... These Ebay/Paypal scams are extremely common - I get 'em about once every coupla weeks at least.... Luckily my email provider has got them on the 'bad list' now, so the messages just go directly to the trash bin and I never have to look at them...

I received one of these emails too. I forwarded it to Paypal and they said they would investigate the source, etc. Paypal said if they were to email me they would call me by my first and last name. Fake emails address you as Paypal customer, never by your name. I still wouldn't trust anyone though.

Ebay or paypal (ebay owns paypal now) will never send you an e-mail with a link in it, where you put in your password'

Never answer those e-mails, you should foward them to ebay and paypal (include full headers) and then they try to figure out where the e-mails are coming from
for ebay, the e-mail to foward them to is

and paypal is
