I was wondering.....did anyone hear on the evening news tonight about some type of major crackdown that's being conducted on prescription drugs obtained over the internet. I know this is talked about quite frequently but tonight's broadcast was different in that it started off on the topic that Vicodin has become the #2 most addicted drug in any age group; that it has become most available online; and that drug agencies accross the US are investigating a tracking program to help deter this explosion of addiction; and that 21 states now have a drug tracking database.
I know that my state has the hydrocodone database. What I'm wondering is what other states have this ability? What states do not? Does anyone know? Do they cross-reference each other? What about these so-called HIPPA laws? I've heard that Florida doesn't have any type of database in place thus the reason why most of the OP prescriptions originate from this state. What about other states where OP's utilize their pharmacies?
I hope I'm not rambling and that you get the gist of what I'm asking. Any feedback would save myself and I'm sure others a case of paranoia.
This is one of the most informative sites as far as chronic pain, chronic pain medication, resources for gathering information related to chronic pain, and a host of other information at your fingertips, which I most greatly appreciate. Thanks to all my DB brothers and sisters. We will triumph together what one of us could never do alone. I look forward to the feedback related to this topic.
I'm also wishing everyone pain free days ahead along with the choice to control that pain in a manner proven effective, without the assistance of BB, LE or any other agency.
Lovely,
This is being discussed in the news and media section. If you go to the entrance there is a link to the article. Apparently this is ALL over the TV news and all the web news. UGH!
