With all the media coverage lately about OPs, and now the Bush escalation on the bogus war on drugs (read the war on chronic pain patients), I am curious as to the level of comfort of the OP representatives who post on here. In other words, Woody's, YOD, EVMG, NWW provide these services to CP and anxiety patients. Are they even the least bit concerned about getting caught up in this war?
I am becoming increasingly concerned about the future of domestic, records and phone consult required OPs. Are the representatives of these OPs concerned?
It seems to be that it's time to search and search for a local pain management doctor who will not be afraid to prescribe the medications I need for my condition. I am asking the OPs to be honest and tell me if I should start the search. You all must have your fingers on the pulse of how things are going. If you don't, you should. So can you all enlighten us a bit? I find it odd that these news stories are posted on here and not one of you, with the exception of Woodys posting about their troubles, is contributing to the threads. Why is that?

Good point, Buey. What if the OPs get caught up in the 'War On Drugs'? And all the records, identification that they have on file is subpeonaed? Not to scare people, but will we end up on some government list? Will I come home one day and find a letter from a governmental agency that details what I've ordered, from whom, when, where?

I think it's possible. Anything we put on the computer is pretty much common knowledge. We all know that the ops share our information so I have no doubt that the government could obtain the same information. I'm curious as to how the ops in Florida are getting around this database regulation now. Many of the "better" ops and their pharmacies are located in Florida. Are they hooked up to the database or is it only for the "storefront" pharmacies?
I think the "record requiring" ops will last longer than the no record sites, but I think it's only a matter of time before we start seeing their names in the media too. Let's just hope it's a LONG time.

Simple solution.. Don't order meds from two different Pharmacies in the same state. For that matter, it's probably not wise to order meds from two or more period.
I know everyone aren't saints, but the best thing a valid chronic pain patient can do is play by the rules as much as possilbe.

tred, that's a given. But that's not my concern. My concern is that these OPs we depend on to help ua will be caught up in this war on CP and anxiety patients. And yes, that's what it is, IMO. It's not a war on drugs, it's a war on US.
Still silence from the OP reps. I know it is early yet, I just posted last night, but I really hope they chime in here and give us the skinny on this.

Oh, BTW gottadoit, I don't believe the FL database is a reality yet. I may be wrong, and if I am, someone correct me. I thought this was still being kicked around in the FL legislature, no?

Florida is tracking Medicare/medicaid prescriptions.
A pilot program...
And Tred, if Bush gets his way, it will be a national database if I understood correctly. So states won't provide privacy. THe point is deter doctor shopping and address the issue of obtaining the same medication from multiple doctors... a nationwide database.
The idea that the government has a right or obligation to monitor the people, and protect them from themselves, or track their habits, purchases, affiliations, is down right scary.
If Bush wants to amend the constitution, it shouldn't be to "protect" marriage, it should be to protect privacy.
