The stars are gone!

Thanks for eliminating the stars. They were a source of distraction and caused some hurt feelings. Bravo!

I'm with you on that one. Too confusing. The stars felt as if the 'poster' rather than the 'post' itself was being rated, if that makes sense...
Thanks DB!!

Oh Thank Goodness, this is the 2nd time they've tried something like this and once again, I'm GLAD TO SEE THEM GONE!!!!!!!!!!! The stars did truly take away the vadiltiy of a posters statement. In so many peoples minds, espescially newbies, the person could see 1 or 2 stars and think the poster has NO CLUE what they're talking about, when in fact the post could be VERY INPROTANT INFO.
THANK YOU DB!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The user ratings are a standard feature and everytime we upgrade it takes us a little time to remove them.

We removed the user rating but kept the thread ratings.

We are working hard to make our site more informative and more user friendly. Hope you like the changes so far

JOJOM, I was just going to jump off the bridge to keep sweetz company. I didn't think it would be right for her to jump alone. In any case nobody has to jump, everyone can sign on without wondering if their ratings plumeted overnight ( now I know how the sit coms felt) and we can all get a good nights sleep ( until the Feds take our pain meds away). LOL then we die and become turcica

Dang turcica! You LOVE those "graemlins" don't ya'? Actually, I kinda like 'em too! Especially, the wonderful "pinkbanana"! (even though he's purple)

And yes, I agree, the stars were distracting and hurt many feelings. Good job !

Take care,
LordBA

Boy, I'm glad they're gone. I think most of us were puzzled and annoyed by them.

Although nobody complained too loudly, I notice! Maybe, like me, everybody was kind of hoping they would log on one morning and find all of a sudden that everyone loved them and they had five stars, up from two and a half the night before!!

Or was that just me, desperate for approval...........?

No, it wasn't just you, PB. I felt apprehensive each time I logged on.

Whew! They can take me off of suicide watch now.

LMAO I'm so glad to know that I wasn't alone in feeling that way. It took me back to high school and those popularity contests. *Shiver*

I did not fully grasp the meaning of the stars, so thank you for saving me any further investigation. Simple is better.

I totally agree with everyone & im glad those stars are gone. BYE STARS!!!

I also think new people would feel bad not having many like you said Summer & give no meaning to their post. I felt bad & I had 3 starts.

I could just picture people running around giving stars instead of the focus being on pain & how to help each other get the help we need.

THANKS DB!!!!!

I am glad that the stars are gone to. I did feel pretty good about my self because I suffer from low self esteem and I had 3 stars which made me feel like I was offering something to the board. But, I don't know how I got them and this board should not be about who someone likes better. In fact, I did not ever give 1 person a star because I was not aware fully of the meaning. But, I would have given everyone one if I had known about them. Glad that they are gone so everyone is on even ground!

The stars were simply a popularity contest. I gave EVERYONE 5 stars once I figured out how it worked (and when I had time to go through the motions.) Even people I don't particularly care for.

Could you imagine what life would be like if we had to each wear a "stars" rating sewn to our shirts out here in realf life? That total strangers judged us purely on our appearance and once a rating was given by a particular person, it couldn't be changed, ever?

Just imagine the suicide rate after that!!!

And the psych wards would be full of the rest of us (fruits!)
