Good substitute for Percocet 10/325
      #142095 - 02/26/04 01:14 PM

I have been taking Percocet 10/325 for chronic back pain after two disk surgeries. I have just ordered my first consult with Norco Worldwide. Can anyone who has used them tell me which medications they offer would be a good substitute for the Percocet or will that be totally up to the Doctor. I have been reading threads that some people are unhappy with Norco 10's. Aren't those just generic Hydrocodone/acetaminaphen 10/325 ??? Isn't a generic drug just a chemical copy of the original ????

Yes, I would recommend norco 10 as the best substitute for percocet 10's. It is obviously not as strong, but it is the strongest you will find online. The problem was not the generic exactly, it seems there was just a weak batch going around. It seems to be gone now. Also, some people find that the hydro doesn't work as well for them with the lower amount of tylenol, but I have not had that problem. Some say the higher amounts of tylenol "enhance" the hydro, I just found that the higher amounts of tylenol made me feel sick to my stomach. JMHO!!!

The appox. equivalent of 10mg oxycodone is 15mg of hydrocodone. Hydrocodone is not made in 15mg pills but it can be compounded if it prescribed.
Yes, the generics are the same med. However I had a doctor tell me that generics can vary on the active ingredient by up to 20%. I think some generic manufacturers make a better product than others. Personally I think Vintage is the worst.

I have to agree, too much tylenol makes me really sick and feel horrible, I used to take 7.5/750's and they made me so sick, I love taking such a low dose of tylenol, the lower the better for me.

hydrocodone is the closest thing to oxycodone (percocet) theres only a one atom difference in the chemical structure and they are most similar in effect. most commonly people find that hydrocodone is slightly weaker than oxycodone. Because hydrocodone is only schedule III (for the time being) it is easy for ligit pain patients to obtain from US Online Pharmacies. Percocet is a schedule II drug.

there is no difference between generic and brand name except the name on the box/bottle and the looks and fillers of the pills. a molecue is a molecue, all the same.

Also, just as side note, the generic of norco 10/325 is made by the same company as the brand. Watson makes generic and brand norco. The only difference is one will say watson and one would say norco. Also, I have noticed a difference with brands, I find the 10/325 watson generic to be the best version for me. The used to take 10/500, but I find the 10/325 are better for me, I guess it just depends on your body and psychology. I think my preference might be in my head, whatever works I don't care.
