So, I've asked this question briefly in another post, but would like to see what others had to say....
I'm going on a trip to Brazil in a few weeks and need to know if I will have any problems at customs, concerning my medication? I have a very legit script from Madison Pain, but have had some worries that since it's written in another state other than mine, it might lose some credibility. I don't see why it would, but I have to worry about this possible situation, since it would cause major problems in my travel plans. Any insight or experience in this area??
Thanks in advance.

I would be MORE concerned about what customs officials in Brazil might think should they decide to search your personal belongings when entering into the country.
Look into that. It would be time well spent.

I had the very same concern a few weeks ago but it was not with Brazillian Customs, anyhow my husband pointed out that A. the script is legit and if they want they can call and verify, which I doubt they would do and B. how do they know that you were not in that state visiting your aunt when you were prescribed that medication? Anyways, the only thing I was told by my travel agent with regard to prescription meds. were to keep them with me on my person or in my carry-on. As far as customs, they never even looked at the bottle and they did search through my purse and carry-on both with the X-ray machine and by hand. It was never even an issue. Happy traveling.

Do not give a second thought about Brazilian customs. They could care less about prescrition drugs in that part of the world. Just do not carry any bricks of marijuana or bags of coke, in or out. lol

I have never had a problem entering or exiting a country with my prescription. I usually keep them in my handbag and they are labeled. I have even used a medication dispenser to carry my meds and labled the inside of the box myself with what was in each slot. Just me personally, but I have never had a problem. I was told that by going to a foreign country, meds should stay with you and at all times. They Should also be labled. Unless it is soething illegal such as grass or cocaine or some scheduleI type of drug, I have not heard of their being problems. Hope this helps. You can also call your local pharmacy and get guidelines for taking meds on a foreign trip and how to pack and carry them. My local pharmacy made me up some bottles to carry with me because I told them I did not want to take the original script bottle with all the medication, as it may get lost. They were happy to do this for me. Good luck, Traz

zzzzzoh and another thing, I have found that is not difficult with most countries that I have visited when it comes to customs. The hardest place to enter or renter seems to be the good ol USA. Customs were brief for me entering and leaving most countries that I visited, but coming back home was the monster. They have all kinds of little beagle dogs and such that try to hang around suspect persons, It is kinda funny what people try to snuggle in. Hell, I tried to smuggle in a sausage loaf from France (before the mad cow threat), as I did not really think something as minute as sausage would cause a scandle. I had no problem eith my dear sausage loaf as I traveled throughout different countries in Europe. This sausage was the bomb! I felt I needed to share it with others. Well I don't know how they knew, but they gave me this slip of paper and directed me to the agricultural xray area. I had even checked the bag!. I knew what they wanted so instead of having them pull all of my stuff out, I told them where the said sausage was located. How embarrassing. I feel those guys iin customs had a party that night and ate that sausage after seizing it. I got a 25.00 fine. Well I learned from this and with the mad cow scare, I really understand why measures are in place to protect us from these kinds of things. Sorry I did it, but at the time did not really understand the ramifications of what I was doing. This is off the subject, but thought I would share this small embarrassment to you guys if for nothing but a laugh. Take care all, Traz

Hmmmmm.... I can only imagine poor Trazzy being surrounded by the MIB with AR-15's, Tech 9 semi-automatics and having tear gas thrown on him; and all you hear is.....
"GET DOWN! GET DOWN! WHERE'S THE SAUSAGE? YOU HEAR ME? WE KNOW YOU HAVE IT! WHERE'S YOUR SAUSAGE?!?!?!?!!?!?"
Sorry...I couldn't resist!
