I think I was just contacted by a former employee from Ephy who joined another OP trying to steal their clients, don't fall for it. The new one is 1stemeds.com ......I have never had a problem with Ephy and this gal e-mailed me and I was wondering where she got my e-mail from, she stole their e-mails. Heard it from the horses mouth.

I sure hope you notify Ephy and let them know what has transpired. That person needs to be prosecuted for theft. I wonder if there was a non-compete clause in her employer-employee relationship. If so, she's in deep doodoo. People stoop so low, don't they!

Geez that's kinda scarey! I wonder what other information she stole. Thank goodness I've never gone with either outfit.
Thanks for letting us know!

Very scary, I'm glad I don't use Ephy, either. Out of curiosity, I tried going to the site and either my computer is misbehaving or the link isn't working.
An internic whois lookup doesn't show very much information about the domain name:

No, it's 1stemeds..
I've gotten mailed a packet, contacted twice, and received two emails in total from ePhy and Health Plan Pharmacy's new OP, which apparently is this 1stemeds things.
Don't like the way either is doing business, won't be doing business with either one.
Ephy was horrible anyway- I'm glad to be rid of them- you get what you pay for. Some people justified the horrible customer service and tracking number problems with the cheap consults, but who cares? I don't mind paying more for something that actually works the first time. The only way you could ever get anything accomplished with them is if you got Tom on the phone, and even he was overloaded with work.
But don't believe what you hear, anyone could've contacted anyone, OP's have a habit of spreading rumors about each other lately.

Hey,
I have gotten that email 3 times already in the last couple of days, and been wondering about that. The first 2 emails did not have the word "spam" in the title, but was the exact same message. We need more information on this.

Yep, I got the same EXACT email twice too. Very colorful. At first I thought it was 1stmeds, then realized when I clinked link to the site that it was in deed..1stemeds. What a scam!!! I'm so thankful for coming across this post before being stupid and trying them out. UUGGHHH!!!
BTW...I DID use Ephy before...wonder if I should be concerned with my info getting all over the place. I mean, its only medical records and things like that, but...I'm really glad I used the "cod" instead of giving them my credit card info.

A friend stopped by the other day and was inquiring about Ops, I had this mail from both places...1stermeds offering 55.00 consults and Health Plan offering 50.00 consults..I pulled them both up in my email and we looked them over and called both of them to see what the chances of getting a consult were...
1stemeds...Talked to a CSR named Katie and was told that if the records were faxed right away the Dr would call within the hour, the Dr was Dr Lo... and the pharmacy was universal, consult was 55.00 and all could be done COD just like ePhy used to do.
Tampa Bay Health Plan Pharmacy...well obvoiusly the pharmacy would be Tampa Bay, the Dr was Dr B....., the consult was 50.00, the consult could be done same day and all could be done COD, they had a packet, the same that many of you including myself recieved in the mail that she faxed over and was filled out and faxed back..a return call confirmed that the consult would indeed be done the same day.
The plan was to go with which ever OP called first...well neither of the Drs called..in return phone calls to the OPs that afternoon he was still told the Dr will be calling you...I personally at this point would not use either of the OPs unless you would like to sit for days and wait for a Dr to call that is not going to.

I just started a post about strange phone calls from op's before I read this post and must say that the exact things are happening to me. I am getting sooooo many emails from op's and phone calls and I got that packet from HPP. Is is just me are all of you upset about how poorly op's are keeping our personal information well personal. There is absolutly no reason a pharmacy should call me that I am not even doing business with anymore without me asking them to. Now here is the thing when both pharmacy's called me I thought they were either telemarketers or bill collectors so I said I was not home. They gave out all kinds of information they should not just give to anyone. The other day when Health plan pharmacy called my mother was watching my child and she answered the phone and now wants to know why I would order my meds online instead of asking the doctor. This makes me very leary to give any OP my information anymore. I know some op's have asked for my social I guess I better check my credit report as well!

The same thing happened to me when my mom happened to be over for dinner. She picked up the phone and proceeded to tell the CSR I was busy and to take a message. The pharmacy told her I was due for a refill and needed to know if I would like it filled and shipped overnight. My mom was upset thinking I was ordering medication from the internet, especially after all that Oprah and Dr. Phil nonsense... I explained to her the situation and she understood, because of my condtion that I need to purchase a couple meds from online OP's. What pissed me off more was that the pharmacy proceeded to tell her what the medication was and I needed to have it filled A.S.A.P. To top it all off, it was medication I never even ordered before! I already posted this before, but when I read your post it brought back a memory of my mom thinking I was abusing medication from the internet... I think the pharmacies who fill our prescriptions should be a little more discreet about the medications we take...
Take Care,
R

Absolutely burns my ***, this is supposed to be highly confidential information. I dont outright blame Ephy but it seems that this is all definately stemming from there, I cant blame them for these things but I do believe that legal action should be taken again both the former employee as well as HPP, both have no business using our private and confidential records for marketing purposes. Maybe we should all send an email to Ephy letting them know what has been going on (I already have) and express our concern about our confidential records as well as our desire to take action, maybe Ephy will do this if they get enough of a response about it. I am no legal expert but wouldnt disclosing that information to your mother over the phone be in direct violation of HIPPA????

In answer to your question regarding the HIPAA...YES.
Discussed medications over the phone to someone not the patient? Bad news for them. A violation.
There is also a reward for anyone reporting violators.
In my business I have to watch everything I say or do regarding patients , as I travel to many different hospitals.

Well Kharma & Ria,
There you go, not only is it a violation of your hippa rights but also you get a reward for reporting it. I cant tell you what to do but If it was me I would definately report it, not so much for the reward but to protect my own rights, I would be horrified if they disclosed any info to anyone over the phone at my home, my whole family has keys to my house so literally anyone could answer the phone!
Well its up to you but clearly your rights have been violated.

God I just had an awful thought, I have my work number listed with Ephy, if my records were passed along it means these phone numbers were as well........I have been out of work recently due to an injury I only hope they would not call my job and disclose information.....

I think what happened here was no surprise. First of all Health Plan Pharmacy knew it was doing business with Ephy and, at some point, just decided to go into their own consult business by eliminating the middle guy. Hey, its all about the money. I'm sure Health Plan Pharmacy does not have your medical records so don't worry about that. I'm sure they are aware of the HIPPA laws. All they have for information about you (if you used them) is your name, address and phone number. This shouldn't shock you because this is necessary info all pharmacies must have to be able to fill a prescription. All prescription labels have this info on them. All HPP did here was step on some toes. This could be the start of a new trend, who knows. All I know is the competition taking place out there is already driving down consult fees of a few OP's. Cheaper consult prices, cheaper prices on meds, and cheaper shipping options. Who can complain about that?

Did YOD respond quick? Ephy told my friend early that they would call tomarrow. I told her not to count on it, and to try YOD.
