I've been checking around the internet for Tussionex and noticed that Fastestrx carries it. The price seems reasonable. One 120ml. bottle for $112.00! Has anyone used them and if so, are they reliable? I've got the flu and have no insurance and this is the only thing that's helped in the past. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Moby.

USHealthMeds is the same company and I ordered from them and never got any response. I wouldn't count on them.

Thanks for the reply Freddie. I was reading in some earlier posts that they contact your doctor first and then it's anybody's guess when or if they will deliver.

Last month I requested Tussionex during my consultation and was told there are regulations prohibiting OPs from scripting and pharmacies from filling any cough preparations. This was not with this particular service, however the doc informed that it was across the board.
I have long thought that these OPs intentionally list appealing medications to get our attention and then stear us to another approved medication. Just a thought.
Get well Moby ... the flu is awful!

Thank you both! That's the last thing I need them to do is call my doc. Heck, if their going to do that; I have a better chance of paying a visit to my doctor and asking for the Best if kept off the board cough syrup in person! I was just trying to save some money, because I'm out of work indefinately.
I'll just drink my hot tea and take my Robitussin.
The cough and the chills are the worst!
Thanks again, Moby.

Moby, have you ever tried Delsym? Its a sustained released cough prep thats OTC. Has I believe Dextromethorphan as main ingrediant only its a 12 hour dose like the tussionex. My pulmonologist said its the strongest thing OTC. Hope the info helps and feel better soon. turcica

I am just now getting over what I guess was the flu. It was horrific. I could not stop coughing for weeks. I actually thought I was going to die for a few days. ANd the chills were terrible. Then I'd wake up drenched in sweat in the middle of the night. All I can say is thank God I had my Norco, because that definantly helped with my cough, and the aches and pains, of course. I did wish I had some hydro cough syrup, that would probably have worked much better. Good luck to you. I help you are feeling better soon!

Well, its not TOTALLY across the board...although most OP physicians won't prescribe Tussionex, some still do - I have a tracking number for my refill as I type this - although it is quite expensive. Over the years I've requested and received Tussionex from three different OPs but have been denied from others. The reason I was given by those that denied it was that medical conditions that require Tussionex (bronchitis, pneumonia, etc) are acute conditions that need to be treated locally in order to prevent complications or worsening of the illness. Most OPs are much more comfortable just prescribing meds for chronic conditions that although painful & potentially activity-restricting, don't have the potential to be life-threatening.
Take care & I hope all those stricken with flu recently feel better now!
