Where to turn?
      #138422 - 02/17/04 12:25 PM

Hello, I have a quick question for you all. For many years my wife has suffered from arthritis in her knee and lower back pain due to narrowing disk space and a genetic problem in the way her hip and tail bones formed. She has seen her doctor several times over the last 4 or 5 years and got all types of X-rays to diagnose her problems. Please excuse my spelling on the following prescription drugs but she had been given Vioxx, Clerblex?, and prescription strength aleve. Only the Aleve helped manage her pain and get her through the day as long as she was not up and around to much. A few months ago she had to go back to work to help us make it financially as a cashier. This is where her pain came on worse then ever and the aleve no loner helped. She will literally sit and cry during her brakes and after work over the pain. At the beginning of January she had a tooth pulled and the dentist gave her a few 5/500 vicotin. Actually we both had teeth pulled in the same day, fun times at my house for the kids ay my house that day : ). Although I could not stand the way the medication made me feel for her it seemed like a god send. She said for the couple days she had it she felt like she had her old life back. She went back to the doctor week and he did a full check-up including blood work and x-rays but would only prescribe her the same prescription strength aleve. At this point she dosen’t know where to turn, I feel horrible because we really can’t afford for her to quit work. Who would you all recommend as the best most reliable OP for her to go with? She has copies of all her med records most regarding this pain and x-rays and diagnostics from last week. Thanks in advance

Hello karson and welcome to the board. That must have been quite a day with both of you having dental work the same day! Have you had a chance to look around the site yet? There are alot of posts with feedback from the different members here. Most members have their favorites based on their experiences with different OP's. You will find some useful information here. NWW (Norco World Wide) is a favorite of many here. We even have a thread dedicated to this OP. I'm sure other members will reply to your post with good suggestions. I personally am not too familiar with alot of them so I'll leave the recomendations to the more experienced members. I'm so sorry your wife has so much pain in her knee and her MD tells her to take alleve, we hear that alot here. I'm glad you found us. I'm sure you will find the answers you need here. turcica

Hello,Your wifes situation is the same reason that probably brought most of us to this board and to use Ops in general which is doctors refusal to prescribe adaquate pain control for fear of whatever powers that be or addiction. My sugestion to your wife is to read all the various posts and come to a decision based on others feedback.I for one completely swear by NWW and would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone with records looking for a reliable customer oriented OP,,but that is just MHO.Hope this helps you feel free to PM if you like. Peace

If you have good records, then you shouldn't have a problem finding an Op that will help and be quick about getting the meds to you. I personally would recommend the following OPs: Norcoworldwide, your online doctor, Dr. Starks (he doesn't have a website, but if you need the e-mail contact for him just PM me), and southwestmedicalgroup. These are all great Ops and will have your consult set up within 1-2 days and your meds to you by the next day after your consult. Just contact the ones you are interested in either by e-mail or telephone and get started. I would recommend that you obtain your medical records first thing.

Karson,
Welcome to the Board. It sounds as if your wife has been under- and inappropriately medicated for her condition for a very long time. The physical stress of standing appeared to bring on unbearable pain. While both of you having the dental work done at the same time must have been a nightmare, it provided a controlled experiment of sorts in that she responded favorably to the vicodin as a chronic pain patient would - with relief. I agree completely with the above posters that a consult with an OP would be in order. Once the proper dose established, she will be able to have a better quality of life. It's good that she has the medical records because it sounds as if her doc would not be very positive about the OP use. Keep us posted on her progress and again, Welcome to the Board!!!
Please feel free to ask questions via pm or through posts.
Take care.

Hi -
I happened on this site when researching avenues to purchase pain meds on-line, and have gotten a great education from reading the posts. I chose to use www.youronlinedoctor.com and had a really good experience. I faxed my records with the required medical history form from their site and received an e-mail the same day with a time for a phone consult, which was scheduled for the following day. I did the phone consult on a Friday, was approved for a prescription, and received the medications on Tuesday. I was very pleased. I'm sure there are lots of reputable sites to do business with; just thought I'd share a positive experience.
Good luck!!
Kirby

Well after spending some time reading this board and your replies my wife decided to schedule a consultation with NWW. She will be talking with a doctor from there tomorrow morning. She faxed over her med records this morning. Looking over them with her was really quite interesting. She must have been to the doctors 10 times over the last 5 years with her back and knee pain. They always do the same thing, take x-rays and tell her what is causing the pain and prescribe the same medicine in says right in her medical report was not working for her. Anyway, we really appreciate all your help, we will let you know how thing turn out.

Hi, Karson!

Oh this bleeding heart of mine!

I know precisely what you're wife is enduring. I needed to go back to work to help suppliment our income, too, and went to work overnights at a convenient store. Oy, the work that has to be done, the bending and lifting, the standing, and the mopping and sweeping. I couldn't take it either and I would cry on and off during my shifts.

But you know what I did? I went to work for an answering service where there is no impact on my body whatsoever. All I do is sit on the phone all through my shift. And just an FYI, if your wife wants to consider this an option for employment, just look through your yellow pages under Telephone Answering Services and she can call them right up and inquire about employment. They are ALWAYS hiring! I've done it for many years though, but they are more than happy to train newbies.

As for the pain issue. Couldn't your wife have simply expressed to her physician that when she had teeth extracted that the meds her dentist prescribed made her feel better overall? I hate it when these doctors don't listen and undermedicate us all of the time! It's just not right.

Well, if you have to go OP, this is the best place to have come to. These people know their stuff when it comes to reliability, discretion, and legal issues.

Best of luck to you and your wife. Hope everyhing works out.

Thanks for all the responses.
Chris, She will be available for her Consultation tomorrow, thanks.

Lemongrass, My wife really likes her Doctor on all her other health care needs. According to her med records he has offered he Vicodin a few years ago for pain that she refused. Apparently he is not a big fan of this type of pain management, she said it seemed she was made to feel like she was doing something wrong when talking about it and that is why she refused it.

Lovely11, To be perfectly honest part of my interest in this is for selfish reasons. Although I really do hate seeing her in pain it also limits what we can do for fun together and with the kids, also the help with the house and kids after work is about impossible. Just look forward seeing her they way she once was.

Karson, your statement about this situation being a selfish one really isn't. I worry about my family all of the time and what they have to do around here for me. I try. Really, I do try. And it takes so much out of me to try. I literally have to force myself to get ready for work. And like I said, it's not a physical job. So, from one woman who carries the guilt of her family carrying such a large burden, trust me, your wife is feeling that guilt, too. I'm certain she'd love nothing more than to be back to her old self again and help be a contributor to the household. Patience. You obviously have some help soon on the way. That's wonderful news!

Do keep us updated, please.

karson, so glad you got on board with NWW. I too, have to say I am impressed with your level of concern for your wife's wellbeing. As for the selfish reasons, its not so. A marriage and family has to have all its members feeling well to do their part otherwise you don't feel complete as a family. When one of you is down the others are affected. Its just plain love and it seems your family has alot of it.I have a husband and two boys. When I'm not able to keep things going due to my pain everything is in a state if dissaray. Its like they are frozen waiting for me to feel better and rejoin them. Good luck and keep us posted. turcica

Just wanted to thank you all for your help. My wife was extremely pleased with the service NWW offered her and said the doctor seemed very helpful and caring during her consultation as well. She said she especially liked the fact that they required real medical information regarding her problem to prove she was a legitimate candidate for this type of treatment before prescribing her medication. She has been to the doctors several times a year and already a couple this years and has the x-rays and MRI’s to diagnose her pain. Them requiring this information made her safe and she new this was a legitimate company. She has always had issues regarding this type of treatment even when she was offered it from her personal physician, so I told her to read the board more, this has also helped her feel more comfortable with it. Thanks again for the help, hopefully this gets her back to her old self. I am sure she will be on here to keep you all updated.

Karson,

Please tell your wife i am going to pray for her. I understand completely what she goes through. I have a very bad knee and cant afford an MRI which i need. It swells up so much at times i cant bend it. I have 8 children and am really struggling to take care of them. I have a great and understanding husband too. Tell your wife to PM me if she would like. The meds will help a lot.

Bless you both
