LostShopper, did I miss something? Why is Dresbaby missed? I haven't come across any of her posts, so I don't know anything about her. I hope she's OK though.

She was a frequent and valuable poster awhile back. I saw a post fairly recently by her and it was great to see her again. From what I remember of her post, health issues have kept her from being as active as she once was. She was and is a treasure.

Dresbaby is one great lady. She and I joined this board about the same time, way back when. I miss her so much on the board but she has been through some horrific times in her life and just can't be here like before. She has a terrible time using her fingers to type now, but she is a survivor and we both went through several "nightmares" in our personal lives. She was always there for me and still is. I hope one day you will all get to know her better. EMJ

Sheenafur
Go ahead, put on your prom dress..LOL. I don't want you to feel left out or ignored so I'll give my "vision" of you. Even though it's based solely on this thread I keep getting the same image of you, so let's see if I can come close.
I see you as being mid forties, brown hair just below your shoulders and very full. You wear little or no makeup, green or greenish blue eyes and around 5'6" in height, glasses. I know it's totally off the wall but, I see you sitting in cafe boothes eating lunch alone.
OK, now I feel like I'm waiting on my test score.LOL

Oh heavens, Charm. I'm afraid that's not me at all. Okay, there are maybe a couple of correct guesses. First of all, I really only attended the prom so I could horrify the classmates and chaperones. I brought a six foot two b/f with a six inch mohawk and a safety pin through his nose. I'm late 30s, blonde hair when it's not blue. Yeah! Green eyes! Makeup is good when actually leaving the house--lots of black eyeliner. Yes! 5'6"! Ummm...not really into sitting alone for lunch in a cafe, unless it's in Paris. In fact, I don't really like lunch--more likely to see me out after dark and with a big group. I work at home, so don't lunch out often. I do like to read in cafes, though, so that's partially correct. Yes! Glasses! Leopard-skin colored, when I can't cope with contacts. Very full? Does that mean me or my hair? Hair: not full particularly, unless aided by products, and teased to wildness. Me: Full...um...bosom.

Very interesting, though. Thanks so much for taking the leap. I feel much more wanted!

Sheena

And you are so very welcome. I may not always be precise but I sure do have fun trying
PS..full as in hair

Re: mental image of fellow members [Re: lovepink]
      #113952 - 11/07/03 08:41 PM

I just ran across this thread (yes, I've been away for awhile...my son has had some allergy related health problems, but he is getting so much better now!) This made me laugh...I ALWAYS wonder what people look like!! Not that looks matter than much, but I really like to be able to put a face with a name. Lovepink and I do look a lot alike...that's funny that everyone guessed that! Actually, I just had some darker strawberry blonde highlights put into my hair for fall so we probably look even more similar now! But that is a very nice compliment to me, so thanks everyone!

Okay, so here's my summary...first of all, I LOVE reading all the comments about people loving animals! I am a vegetarian and a contributing member of PETA. As of right now, we have no pets due to my son's allergies, but we do rescue animals that have been left alone and take care of them until they are healthy enough to adopt out at my mom and dad's country house. I think I got my love of animals from my dad! My husband is not vegetarian, my son is semi (and I'll let HIM make his own choice) but they both adore animals...I only hope my son outgrows his allergies soon so he can enjoy them. Anyway...I really enjoyed reading about all the animal lovers. As far as appearance, I am 5'5 and 105 lb. Eyes go back and forth between green and blue and as you all know, long blonde hair. Naturally VERY curly, but I wear it straight. Yes, I have to be difficult! I have mostly been told I look like Michelle Pfeifer (although I don't personally see it) and Angelina Jolie when I dyed my hair dark...but I assume it's only because I have big lips, which I HATED when I was young and was teased for everyday of my gradeschool life, but now I kindof like them thanks to all the women getting the lip injections!haha Well, it's good to be back and I hope to be chatting with you all very soon!! Mello

OMG Mello!!! So glad to see you posting - several of us have been concerned about you!! Very glad to hear you son is getting better - allergies can be very serious. Anyway, we've missed you! I think all of us DB's that are able to should go to the pain march next year in D.C. - we could have a get together and meet face to face. I think that would be so neat!

This has been a fun thread. Oh, and Sonick - I do believe that is Flip in the flesh

Mello, I echo your sentiments about having animal lovers as members. We currently have quite the housefull - three guinea pigs (two rescues, one born here), four parakeets (cast-offs by original owners) and one Golden Retriever that some jerk dumped when she was barely weaned and we found her so near death that she couldn't even walk for days. Happily, she is now a happy, healthy 10 month old, and not only a permanent fixture but pretty much dictates the house rules. LOL Though we aren't vegetarians, I don't eat much meat. I did, however, marry an avid hunter. I am happy to report, though, that after falling in love with our piggies, and listening to my thoughts on animals, he has lost his taste for squirrel or rabbit hunting, and hasn't killed a deer since we married. There is hope for the boy yet.

Sorry to stray so far off topic. I would love to be able to see everyone on this board, and I know that regardless of our exteriors, I could see the beauty in you all.

As for myself, I am 5'8" tall, light brown hair that's almost blond due to being genetically lucky with the blond highlights. Blue eyes. Size 6. Long hair, down to the mid-back area, not straight but not curly. A tad large-chested but luckily perky due to never having children and exercising before I became unable. So far I am fortunate that I am very toned, used to be a gym fanatic, but since the onset of my illness I am pretty sedentary. Once again, thanks Mom, for the good genes. I like to think that I am kind and a good person, as I do take care of a couple of elderly neighbors - don't have to but love to. I am rather quiet, but do have a sense of humor, just not of the slapstick or corny variety. I am a good friend - the few well-chosen ones I have know that they can come to me and anything they say is in "The Vault". I don't tend to be one to go out, love to stay in at home with my husband and our "family", enjoy an occassional cookout here with the elderly neighbors over. Love to read. Love to visit this board. That's about it - pretty boring, although in my younger days (44 now) I did enough to last a lifetime - concerts, parties, Mardi Gras, you name it. I know I don't post alot on here, but I do read alot and many of you are in my prayers, though you may never know it.

Yikes, that's about as long a post as I have ever made here, but I really am enjoying this thread. Now, y'all keep posting because I am so enjoying all of your comments and posts!

Be well, all.

I guess no one wanted a mental pic of us "Old Codgers".

But I'll describe myself.
I'm 5'11" sorry weight I want tell. Dark brown hair, with graying temples and elsewhere. Had a beard for over 15 years, of which I shaved it off last year. It went from dark brown, to salt and pepper, to all salt (white). Kept the stach though (and yes I do keep it colored).
Been told I look like Tony Orlando of "Tony Orlando and Dawn" but I think he's held up better, unless he's got some secrets I/We don't know about.
I've recently hit the half century mark.
Been with my companion/partner/significant other for over 22 years now.

Blame my back problems on my "Disco Days".

It's not YOUR problem (I hope that)

Excellent Idea!
It was kinda funny, many people assumed I was a man, I guess because of the username I picked JOJOM! That was just the first thing that popped in my head and really does not tell you anything about ME!

Turcica- I picture you as a 30ish, brown hair, blond highlights, very faint ones, brown eyes, slender outgoing and funny person! Am I even close, let me down easy girl!

JOJOM, when I was 30 that is pretty close to what I looked like, except the eyes are blue. Now after 2 children and in my late 40's, the blonde highlights are actually a little gray unless I go to the salon. Slender is long gone but still in pretty good shape. Very outgoing, my true wish when I was young was to be a stand up comedian/actress. My Mom still tells me I missed my calling. Instead I went into healthcare. Brought many a smile to a saddened face and helped many families through a time of crisis. The outgoing is still there but the going out is a little inhibited by the CP. In any rate you were pretty close. Oh, the freckles musn't forget them( Irish part of me). Hope you aren't dissapointed. LOL. turcica

Turcica- I was going to say Blue eyes too, darn! I can tell you are funny by your avatar, it cracks me up!

Raindays- I say you are 40ish, blond hair, kinda short, medium build, you may be a little depressed, you are the type of person that takes care of everyone else before yourself and that can wear you down. You are a loving, caring person with a huge heart! What so you guys think I look like???

Rainydays....here's goes.
I see a woman with large, lovely eyes; she has a lively inner life and it shows if one looks closely, but she doesn't have to let others know; she is remarkably self-contained. I see you with beautiful skin and dimpled hands.

Am I right?

Turcica- you are slender and into everything, busy all the time; you have a sideways smile that makes your whole face light up...

This is the first time I ever did this guys, so please, tell me if I really blow it!!! I will not be hurt, just stop me before I sin again...

ummmm..
JOJOM- you are the one who gets the parties going for the whole block! You are self-confident and you have a beautiful smile and know it but you are not vain. You can wear short skirts, and you don't make a big deal about getting ready everyday, but for a special occasion, you pick everything carefully, and you make your love's mouth drop open when you finally enter the room.

Was I right?

WOW Prettyday you are pretty close! I am always smiling ! I make friends easily and My close friends can Always Count on me to make them smile even when they have their worst day! I am patient so getting ready in the morning is no big deal, hair, make-up picking out an outfit. I always am the first one on the dance floor to get the party started, not shy at all! Not vain at all either, I am confident in my own skin!

Prettyday-
You are a young , energetic little fireball with plenty of stories to tell. You can either be the life of the party, or just sit quietly alone reading a good book, different book! You have long hair with Blue eyes , attractive and friendly! You do not judge people at all and can make friends with anyone!

Am I even close???

How cool that you brought this back to life I started this thread way back. I would and still do sit and wonder what everyone looks like, where they live, what they do ect. I think I posted about myself way back also. IT is so interesting to read this. I hope others that are new or even sort of new that haven't posted here do so.
