Any input and help on this matter from all you knowledgable ones out there will really help. I have been taking 10/325's for some time now and due to a change in a script (not my choice) I am taking 10/500's - about 5-6 per day. My headaches are sooo bad I can barely concentrate and have been home from work sick for two days. I need the pain meds for my chondritis but can't stand the headaches. Any fab cures you can suggest? Norco's never did this to me. Whats up???

Probably all the tylenol is causing the headaches, I don't know what to tell you to do about it though, it's happened to me ( I had vicoden es, 750 mg tylenol!) but I haven't figured out how to make it go away; doesn't bother me as much as the nausea though!

To me it sounds like you are having rebound headaches from the hydrocodone. STOP taking the medicine and you will probably get better VERY QUICKLY.
Sorry you are suffering.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Thank you both...I have stopped taking them this morning and will try to live with the pain to see what happens.

Hydro always leaves me with a nasty hangover headache.
Codeine does not do this to me and is almost as effective for pain relief, just no euphoria.

A few things that contribute to headaches, are dehydration and caffeine withdrawal. If your consumption of coffee, or any drink that contains caffeine, has decreased because you feel bad - that will contribute to your headache. If you can tolerate advil, that may help also. If not better soon, consider seeking medical attention. Particularly if you do not normally have headaches. A headache that has kept you off work for 2 days sounds quite severe.
Hope you are better soon.

You are right on the mark, Sam. I stopped drinking coffee for the past two days because I havn't felt right. I am normally a two cup a day gal. I have felt so bad, I have not even drank enough water to keep a camel going. Good advise...I will drink some coffee and some water, slow down on the Lortab intake and see if I can pull out of this misery. Thanks for all the good advise everyone.

I agree w/ voyager about the "rebound" headache...that is exactly what it is. However, I feel that it is the APAP that is giving you the headache. Exederin, IBU, ASA all do the same... I would assume their is no correct answer other than, yes it is a rebound.
Skip a day. You'll be fine.

Question for Drewsmerdel -- From your experience how does Tylenol # 3 and # 4 compare in potency to hydrocodone 5 mg, 7.5 mg, 10 mg, etc ? I've seen some equivalency charts, not sure I agree with them. Also, have you found codeine to be a lot more sedating than hydrocodone ; I'm pretty sure I have but am not certain. Thanks for your opinion.

I agree its a "rebound" headache from the hydro. Probably backing off a bit should help. Also increase water intake and drop the caffeine intake. turcica
