      #138227 - 02/17/04 01:44 AM

Hi, does anyone have personal experience with having taken all 3 of these? I know that in theory they all have the same amount of hydro in them, but has anyone noticed a diference? any info appreciated....

Not sure of the difference between the lortab and lorcet but I know lots of folks do not feel the norco works as well and the others because of the reduced tylenol. I had a doc tell me once to take an advil with the norco and it truly did help the effectiveness. I would prefer doing that as it gives you more control over the amount of ibu or tylenol you are putting in your body. Doesn't the lorcet have more tylenol than the lortab?

In my opinion the blue watson 540's are almost worthless. It takes a much larger amount to equal one watson 10/325 in my opinion. I would go as far as two 540's to one 10/325.. This is all in the watson family at least. I find real norco's very effective, but also tend to make a person tired. The able 10/325's seem to give me a headache all the time and the malenkrot's (sp) seem to work all right.

The best in my opinion (and everyone's body reacts differently to each) is the watson 10/325's or compounded 15/80's.. I've been through the hydro loop for the last year and a half, so I seem to know their individual feelings quite well. Anyway, I'm lucky to have found a place that doesn't deal with the medication I've listed as ok.. So to answer your question.. Yes they all seem to act differently, even though they are the same in mg's hydrocodone. The apap does play a part on the effectivness, but it also plays a part in liver toxicity and lethargic behavior (also my opinion)..

Also before I'm done.. it would be cool if someone knew what the filler's are in each med.. This may also be a reason some seem different than others. Anyone have any info pertaining to this?? Just curious.

Hope that helps.

Both the branded Norco 10/325 and Watson's generic 10/325 formulation are manufactured by Watson and are identical in composition.

"it would be cool if someone knew what the filler's are in each med.. This may also be a reason some seem different than others." I'd love to know that, too.

I've found that Lorcet (for some reason) not as effective as Lortab, and it seems it takes much longer for it to have the little effect that it does. Also, the Watson Lortab/Lorcet's seem to actually keep me awake more than the 10/325's. Just my experience.

I am glad to see I am not just imagining this as well, IMO Lortab works best for me 10/500. they seem to work better than the Norco. Norco makes me feel very tired and lortab keeps me awake as well. Lorcet I do not care for they do not work as well for me as the lortab and they seem to give me a headache. Also, I have taken VicodinES 7.5 mill. and they seem to work as well as the lortab 10/500. They were brand and I know some say that brand works the same as generic but I think that in pain medicaine and some other meds like benzos brand IMO is more effective but, I still order generic strictly due to the price difference.

Several years ago I took the generic Lorcet. The Mom and Pop pharmacy I used had green ones which worked the best for me. Then they switched to blue ones ( I guess cheaper) and they didn't work half as well. Of all the hydro I have taken, lortab( generic and brand the ones with green spec's), lorcet, vicodin, watsons 10/325 nothing worked as well as those green ones. But like everything else, nothing lasts forever. If anyone supplied the green ones, I'd go back on them even though they have 650 mg of acet. JMO. turcica

I agree, Karma. I've had three different brands of hydro/APAP combinations at the 10 mg level and all three had different effects. One was slower to take effect, another made me nauseous, etc. I also think brand name benzos are best when available.

The Ables give me a headache as well - I'm trying to go brand because of it. Switch one pain for another!
