Hubby had drug test-should he be worried?
      #137223 - 02/14/04 08:48 AM

Hi all,
I wanted to post, and let you know all is well, for both dh,and me. We just got back from NC,where dh found a job, paying as much as he is making now, only w/o the ghost of mistakes past hovering. He is to start March 1st. The only problem he MAY have is all the meds they gave him in the hospital. I am wondering how long benzo's& opiods stay in your system? They gave him Haldol,Resperidol,Ativan, and Darvon. Do any of these drugs stay in your urine for more than a week? He took the test yesterday(2/13),and got out 2/3. He also took an elavil to help him sleep the nite b4(he didnt know they were going to test him then-it was just an interview).
Does he have anything to worry about??? We are really looking fwd to putting this whole fiasco behind us,and moving to a warmer climate, and starting over. I would hate if all this caught up w/him when he is trying so hard to do the right thing
Thanks for any replies
Lisa
Ps.to those who have PM'd me,thank you all for your kindness and concern-I promise to PM back when I have some time

YES , MANY OF THESE DRUGS STAYIN YOUR SYSTEM FOR MONTHS ESP. BENZO'S (I TAKE DRUG TESTS ONCE A MONTH!) I SUGGEST YOU GO TO THE NEAREST GNC OR VITAMIN SHOPPE OR A HEALTH FOOD STORE THAT SELLS VITAMINS OR EVEN A HEAD SHOP OR PIPE/SMOKE SHOP. I use TRIPLE LEAF DETOX TEA (OR ANY GOOD DETOX TEA) DRINK ABOUT 12 CUPS (I THINK THERE'S 15 BAGS IN A BOX /I DRINK A WHOLE BOX 15 CUPS -A DAY BEFORE A DRUG TEST AND I ALWAYS PASS!!! )BUT DRINK 12 - 15 CUPS OF DETOX TEA AND DRINK A 8 OZ CUP OF WATER AFTER EACH CUP OF TEA -YOU WILL BE PEEING ALL DAY AND NIGHT -BUT IT WORKS! (THEIR ARE OTHER DETOX DRINKS AND KITS COSTING ANYWHERE FROM $15.00 - $60.00 -BUT TRIPLE LEAF DETOX TEA COMES IN ORANGE COLOR BOX -COST ABOUT $6.00 A BOX AND THE WATER IS FREE -IT IS CHEAP AND WORKS -COUNT HOW MANY TIMES YOU PEE BEFORE TAKING THE TEST (22 TIMES IS A GOOD DETOX -YOUR URINE SHOULD BE CLEAR WITH A LITTLE YELLOW!) TRUST ME! THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME FOR 2 YEARS! JOHN /CHEESE

Thanks Cheese-but it's a little late for the detox tea,as he took the test yesterday However-they gave him a full drug screen while he was IN the hospital-a week after he started his at-home detox, and his urine came up totally clean. And this was after taking 120 2 mg of Xanax, and 120 5mgs of oxy's in a 3week time span. After 1 week, his pee came out completely clean,as per the nurse who read me the results. So,I am not sure what you are telling me is true
Thanks,
Lisa

Lisa-
Since he was hospitalized they're are Dr's records indicating why he was given these meds. So if his new job has any questions he can request the medical recs from the hospital and hand them over to his new employer. That should alay any problems-hope this helps-

Summer is dead on with her answer. Great advice.

I'd like to also add, I have witnessed urine tests being unable to pick up "said" substance even 12 hours after ingestion, so there is a significant chance they didn't pick up any questionable substances in your husbands system. I really wouldn't worry about it, and just have him be completely honest about the hospital visit, if and or when he is questioned.

Good luck!

exactly...
if doctors gave him the meds then it's all on paper and i don't think their is much to worry about if they ask just tell them the situation and if they want the records it shouldn't be to much of a hassle since it will probablly even show up on the bill.

Thanks all,
I dont think being "honest" will help him get this job, tho.Potential employers DO frown upon any addiction, even those prescribed by a dr. As it is,his current job is "requesting" he train 5 new guys for hubby's route, because they are planning to fire him at the 1st opportunity, even tho he has made them thousands over the past 7 yrs of employment
I guess I just have to pray that nothing comes up that he may have to "explain"
Thanks again,
Lisa
