Hi, I am new to this forum so please excuse me if have posted this in the wrong place....I was recently prescribed Vicodin HP 10/660, for disc degeneration and osteoarthritis, however I am concerned with the amount of acetaminophen which is in it. I have heard alot about 10/325's and was wondering how much of a difference there is between the two, in regards to pain relief??

If you were prescribed 10mg of hydro, then yes, I would really recommend the formulation w/ 325 of acetaminophen. Of course this all depends on how many you are taking at once. Assuming the doc scripted 1 every 4-6 hours, you shouldnt have anything to worry abut unless your liver is shaky to begin with or you will be on this level for long periods of time.
IMO any doc who is willing to script 10mg hydro should have no problem switching to the 325 variant. The formulation w/ 660 acetam. does not really make a whole lot of sense other than discouraging high doses as the acetaminophen would likely cause problems before the Hydro would.
We know the combination of any acetam. does little if any to enhance the pain releiving properties but does bring it to a safer (for the doc anyways) SCH. III rather then II.
