I just began taking generic Soma for a back condition. I'm also hoping to have a pain-killer prescribed in the next couple of weeks. Is there a tolerance that goes with Soma. In the past I could take Vicodin for a day or two--feel good, but after that, the drug seemed to lose its effectiveness. Any experience would be helpful. By the way, I used an OP for the Soma--no problem--and it works like a charm. I'm just worried I'll have to keep upping the dosage.

In my experience you will build a tolerance very quickly. Years ago when i first started taking soma i found that they would hit me in about 15-20 mintes (Dan brand only other brands take a little longer for me) i would feel real relaxed have a tinkle in my fingures and i would know they were working but shortly in i found i couldn't feel them at all. But on the other hand they are the only muscle relaxer i have ever thought acutally worked if even for only a short time zanaflex is junk medicine IMO can't even tell i have taken them at all. But the fix for that is to take a couple weeks off every now and then and b4 taking them take your pain med's about 30-45 min b4 the soma that way your pain med's will kick in first and the soma will just help to boost their pain relieving effects.
I agree with Coty - In fact when I first started using the two together the effects were so strong I was getting sick to my stomach. I noticed the Soma working less and less. I only need to take about a three day holiday from Soma, though, and I can get the good working effects all over again. My suggestion, take frequent holidays from it if possible.
