Never been to Gran Canaria, but I have been to the Spainish mainland. You can buy most items without an rx, but you have to give them names of items they can understand or can easily look-up. Brand names plus the manufacturer helps. Most pharmacists speak english. I was in Madrid and Casa Del Sol a few years ago. In Madrid there seems to be a Farmacia on every busy corner.
