Nubain (nalbuphine) is a narcotic agonist/antagonist combination that comes, I believe, in liquid form only. An agonist/antagonist combination means that it stimulates the opiate receptors (like morphine) and also deprives (for lack of a better word ) them like naloxone. If someone who is opiate dependent takes something containing an antagonist, it will induce withdrawal symptoms.
Now, Nubain is a VERY strong pain reliever because of the agonist/antagonist combination. Other similar drugs include buprenex (Buprenorphine) (comes in sublingual tabs) and butorphanol (Stadol) (which comes in nasal spray).

Yeah, for some reason it seems to run in the same circles as anabolic steroids. I don't know if major AS suppliers also carry it as well or what. Just noticed they seem to travel in the same circles.
