I had a consult this morning, and the Dr. said that they wouldn't release my meds until they had my records. This is just excruciating. My records are in a huge clinic, and they don't give a clue about getting them out in any reasonable amount of time (added to the fact that I'm paying a ridiculous amount for "copying fees"). Is there anything I can do? I'm just about in tears at this point.

I had the same problem getting my records from PCP. They have to give them to you when you request them, but it doesn't mean they have to be speedy in doing so. Most of the time when you request your records, especially if it is a large clinic, it will take a while. They get your records from the medical records department and then in most clinics your doctor has to "look over" them before they are released. This is basically to cover himself with anything that may be in there that in not up to par. And then they will release them to you. I have also PM you Thompsbl

I would get on the phone with your PCP's office and demand those records no matter the cost. It took me almost 3 months to get mine. I paid the $25 fee to get them but it was money well spend and I used Fedxmeds before and they were great and well worth the $$$... DEMAND those records NOW!!

OR, Use an OP that only requires records before the first refill. That way you get meds right away for your condition and then by the time your refill is due, your records should be ready and available. There are several OP's that allow this to be done. PM me if you want a list of them!

If you had an MRI or some other procedure perfored in the x-ray dept. they may have a copy of those results. I have read that many people have just sent a copy of an x-ray report as medical records ( showing your problem) and this is sufficient for medical records. Check with Fedexmeds and see if that would be sufficient. turcica
