i was just wondering about signature required information. If you find any reason why it would be a good thing or a bad thing to have to sign. and if it is at the PO is that a good thing or bad thing. thanks a bunch hope everyone is doing well

If your item was sent Sig reg then pick it up.
If the pink slip says parcel inspected by customs waiting at PO for you to pick up then you may want to reconsider that.
I for one dont like to give my DL#, JMO.

It depends what I was expecting to be in the package and whether or not the sender told me a sig would be required.
Based upon both of these, for my orders, I never sign - ever!
More details would be needed before I would say go ahead and sign for it. Also, contact the sender and ask how they sent it. Sig required or not?

just go up to the postman, sign the slip, and get your package, this works great as long as what is in the package is legal to import a 90 day suppy, if your bringing in 200 roofies then you need to spend time with bubba anyway. b5t3

No, the post office won't write that on the pink slip. They write the tracking or registered number and they usually write what country it came from. You can look at the package before you accept it. If it's been opened and emptied by Customs it's probably not a good idea to accept delivery because if a love letter is not inside, one will soon follow in the mail.
Anyway, it's a myth that someone needs to sign for an illegal mail package in order to get arrested. If it's a controlled delivery, all you need to do is accept the package.
So if a strange looking mail carrier knocks on your door to hand you a piece of regular mail that should just be left in your mailbox, it's probably a controlled delivery. You don't want that, right?

trampy,
yeah, it's a contolled delivery, but in practice if they left it in the mailbox and the authorities watched you take it out and into the house, it's the same thing.

No trampy, Im sorry but I have recieved a certified customs letter to pick up an empty parcel at my local PO.
I did not pick up the parcel, I could see no reason to have my DL# on file.

so then, is everyone saying that there is no reason not to sign for a package? no legal recourse, its the same as taking out of your mailbox? ive noticed lots of IOP places require a sign form you when they deliever. and im just a bit confused as to whether this is an ok thing or it would be wiser to stay away from required signature places. some people tell me yeah i sign...and its no big deal,...others say heck no....its a bad thing. im trying to find the facts on signing...........and if it is at the PO because you were not there to sign for it at your house is it ok to go to the PO and sign or is that "dangerous"? thanks a bunch............anxietystruk

It's a matter of personal preference. I've never had a problem signing for a delivery at home or the post office. I'd rather not have to, but it's a choice I make when I use an OP/IOP that requires sig. Good Luck.

I don't think theres a clear answer to your question. If it makes you nervous thinking about signing for a package, then I would suggest using IOPs who don't require one. If the IOP you want to use requires you to sign, you can always send a polite email asking if they will ship your package without requiring you to sign.

the people who send the package just want some proof that you in fact got it and won't be calling them and saying you did not get it when in fact you did. at least, that's my view on the deal. if you are going to get busted by the delivery agent and the authorities it makes no difference if you sign or not if they watch you take the package either from a ups, fedex, or postal dude. I'm not a lawyer, but that's my take on it from what I've read & heard. b5t3
