Hi,
My doctor suggested 15/80's instead of 10/325's. He also said that a weekend break from these would be advisable every so often. I have read that the 325mg of APAP actually helps potentiate the hydrocodone so does a 10/325 equal a 15/80 in strength given that the APAP potentiates the Hydro?
Also, does anyone know if the 15/80's are that much more expensive than the 10/325's? I checked the VIP database and didn't see anything on 15/80's.
Just looking for experience out there and who prefers which formulation and why? Cost or effect?
Thank you my friends!

I have used both and they are actually quite close although the 15/80 is in my opinion a bit stronger. I know it is not much fun weaning off of them so they in fact MUST be more potent.
I just recieved 120 of the 15/80's and they cost me with shipping I believe 128 dollars. Not bad considering that makes them less than 1 dollar per pill.
I don't think it is that big of a deal unless you are taking more than 8 norco a day for LONG TERM.
Good luck.

Hello,
Did your doctor give you a prescription for these 15/80s? I thought they were Schedule II, or that you could only get them through a compounding pharmacy. What is the name your doctor used for these 15/80s? I'm really curious and would like an answer soon as I have an appointment tomorrow with my PCP.
I'll be sure to watch this thread for some answers. Sounds intriguing, especially for those of us who are concerned about our livers.
Thanks!

Ok voyager, give it up - please, tell us where you got that many for that price! Was it through an OP, or a prescription through your PCP? I'm really curious now.
Thanks,
Miss E

United, in my option, is excellent at putting together compounds of various kinds. I take Hydro 10/160 thanks to them. My liver loves me again, and the lesser dosage of Tylenol is a real blessing. I've developed a tolerance to the 10mg capsules (been taking Hydro for the past 6 years), so may consider asking for the 15's. Yes, I've taken a Hydro holiday now and then, but it hasn't prevented me from developing a tolerance.

From what I've seen on other threads Fedxmeds.com uses United as their pharmacy. And yes the 15/80 (or an amount of tylenol) is going to be more potent, because they have 5 more mg hydrocodone. I wouldn't worry about the less tylenol content, it will be a savior to your liver in the long run. Besides if your pain if due to somthing being inflamed you would be better to add some advil or aleve to you pain management regimen. I'm not a doctor, but that is what I have been told by several, and it helps more than the tylenol.
Good Luck,
Myrrine

I currently take the 15/80's and they aren't much different than the watson 10/325's. At first I didn't think the 15/80's were even close to the watson's/norco's, but after a week of getting used to them, I prefer the compounded med over anything else. One thing about compounded meds....you can't just split one in half if you don't need a full 15mg hydro. This in the long run can create a higher tolerance if your not careful..
Anyway, as others have said, my liver thanks me and I have a lot more energy than I ever did before, when taking the 10/325's.
Good luck!.

Breaking them in half. Good point! I forgot all about doing that. I will often break a 10/325 in half when, on those rare times, I don't need that much pain medicine.
Is it legal to purchase empty capsules and cut the 15/80's in half yourself? That might be viewed at by a pharmacist as drug dealing activities.
Probably not the place for these questions so PM me if you wish or I'll seek advice on another forum.
Thanks to all for your help...

What do you know, UPS came today and he had the same ole 10/325's. Oh well. Now I don't need to worry about breaking them in half. :-) Does United-rx compound the 15/80's or did I miss something?

Hi Banjo,
I just answered this in another thread - I'm not sure if you were the one that posted there or not. cyberscripts, Dr. Watson and Madison will all prescribe the 15/80 compounds. From what I've read, Dr. Watson is by far the least expensive of the three and she uses United Pharmacy.

Can you get these 15/80 through your pain management doc ?
Will most docs write these ? I take 180 10/325s per month.
Thanks

Well, obviously different docs perscribe differently, but... if you mentioned how many norcos you're taking they may be less likely to give you these...

All Fixed!
I was told they made an error when sending the script to United-rx and that the remaining 3 refills will be the 15/80's, of course when the time comes.
Sorry Shirin, forgot to add. I use Dr. Williams. (no web site but a long trusted Dr. with an excellent admin, Traci who monitors these boards. Check it out under sites without a web. Have used him for a few years and I have lots of records. He is in CA and they require tons of paper work in that state.
