epidural of C6-C7
      #132401 - 01/28/04 01:36 PM

I just had a epidural injection of C6-C7. it really has not helped. I have pain and major weakness in my right arm. I no longer have a reflex in the arm. I applied for medical disablity through my employer as I can,t use that arm(im a righty). The claims rep told me that epidurals of the neck area rearly work.

Is that true?? Anyone???

Thanks
Johng

I had 2 epidurals in L-5, S-1, and it made things worse. I'm sorry for your suffering. It was horrible for me. Good luck to you.

Hi, Three years ago when I was first diagnosed with disc problems that is the very first thing the Dr. recommended. I have three herniated cervical disc and being in a lot of pain I said sure I'd try them. The first one I had them put me in a twilight sleep for but the next two I had done awake. Anyways they did not help, cost me $200 each after the ins. paid their part and the Dr. tells me they work in less than 50% of people! Sure wish I would have known that before!

I had one of these done in 2000 & sad enough it didnt help me either. I also had facet injections & trigger points, & still nothing. I have a herniated disc at C-6.
I also hear they rearly work in the neck area, not only that but they hurt like heck.

My two ruptures are at L4/L5 and L5/S1 and, like you, the epidural really didn't do a thing. After the fact, the doctor said that it helps 60-70% of the time and of those, one-third report reduced effectiveness after 1 week. It has taken me months of PT and daily exercise, with the emphasis on workouts at the gym, to strengthen the support muscles, etc., to the point that I can work. Good luck, PM me if required.
