Apparently Customs has a major 'project' going to stop all imported meds from Australia and NZ -
Which is rather funny in a strange way if you think about it - considering the most potent medication any of the Aus or NZ pharmacies will export worldwide is Nurofen Plus (200mg Ibuprofen , 12.8 mg's codeine) - Not even as strong as a Tylenol #2 !! I don't understand. Seems lately as if Aus/NZ OP's are having a harder time sending packages to the U.S than any other areas on the planet. And they only offer OTC and low-strength pain/headache/flu remedies....
I don't see what the big deal is with this 'crackdown' - I don't use Aus/nZ pharmacies anymore, but I did use them for Nuro+ when I first got into OP's, before I started using the U.S doctors for my pain meds - but the Aus/NZ pharmacies were known to be quick, virtually no risk of seizure, and always reliable. Now it is the exact opposite. You could probably receive a package from Thailand or India easier than you could Australia....
None of it makes any sense. I don't know what they are trying to accomplish here, by focusing on these Aus and NZ pharmacies which are actually pretty strict in their requirements and will not offer anything above 12.8mg's codeine without prescription....

Just wanted to add: I don't think *anyone* here will be able to answer your question of 'Why?' because I don't think it makes sense to anyone.... Seems like lately these relatively mild IOP's in Aus/NZ are being targetted more than any other imported medication. Doesn't make a bit of sense to me. If anyone figures it out let me know... Maybe some of our Aus/NZ members here (I know there are a few) can shed some more light on the subject for you - although I don't take Nurofen anymore, I'd still be interested in what's up with this apparent focus on these IOP's in particular???

Okay, I'm an Aussie, born and breed. I used to get my sister, who is back in Australia to send me Codeine based products, which really are OTC medications there. The last time she sent a 'care' package over to me, (back towards the end of the November), she let me know that they all but asked for a DNA sample at the post office! Told me it was getting to be more and more difficult to send medications to me via Aussie Post. I found a web site (not the one mentioned in this thread) that had the Codeine products I was looking for, and I made an order. Their FAQ for overseas delivery is 2-3 weeks. Placed my order in the 12th of December and estimate they should arrive here somewhere between the 29th of December and the 2nd of January. If there isn't any sign of them, I will post and ask. They are very good about answering e-mail, especially to Aussie ex-pats like myself.
As to why US Customs is cracking down on imported meds from Australia and New Zealand, I have no idea. I follow the Aussie news via the ABC web site. (Australia Broadcasting Commission) But I've not seen anything there by way of explanation for this sudden crack down. Maybe it is just easier for certain government departments to crack down on 'soft' targets like Aust/NZ. With the US being seen as the 'bad guy' in a lot of less Westernized countries, maybe they (the US government) don't want to annoy them any further than they already have. This war in the Middle East may have stirred a lot of anti-American sentiment with second and third world countries.
Personally, with both Australia and New Zealand supporting the US involvement in the Middle East, I'm wondering why the government here is setting themselves up to annoy and anger the people of Australia and New Zealand. If this is the trend, then the next target will be England, followed by the EU.
If I get my package from this other Aussie pharmacy site, I'll let folks here know. For now, I am just hoping it has not been seized or anything at the border. Haven't received a love letter....so I can but hope for now.

Just received my monthly (4 X 48) pack of Nurofen Plus in the USA.
Total VISA charge was $57.80 Aust. or $42.88 USD to my door.
Ordered from pharmacyonline.com.aus 12/15, received today (12/27), I thought that was good due to the Christmas package rush.

This is really encouraging to me,as I ordered from them on 12/18. This is my first order of anything, ever,so I am quite anxious about it. I took Nurofen+ when I was in Ireland, and it was somewhat helpful. It is hard being unemployed and losing your health insurance,so I am hoping that I get my order so I can at least take the edge off my pain.
I'll let you all know when and if it arrives. I've gotten a lot of good and helpful information on this site.

Hi Fellow Coomrades!
I'm fairly new to the board (still considered a stranger) but I view much more than I post. I have found it helpful to seek the EXPERIENCES first, say a month or two. This will give us a good indication if there's trouble in the waters such as with pharamacyOL. The unselfishness of others to share their experiences, good discoveries and losses makes this the best board I've ever joined. For everyone interested in pharmacyOL.AUS, please check the comments. Pinkie especially gave me a warning that this should perhaps be a WAIT til later, especially after others had been waiting for over 8 weeks...recently. BLESSINGS 2 U ALL....Disciple

I'm trying to get them to answer an email to see if my last order was shipped. It's way overdue and might have been "picked off" by US Customs
