Has anyone heard of Temgesic? It is supposedly a pain reliever. A friend had ordered it from a OP when they told him they were out of hydro.
Thanks,

I am not a 100% sure so go easy. Temgesic (buph) is not FDA apporved for pain reief, but for rehab type reasons.
It does relieve pain and also eliminates many WD symptoms. You will read many use it because it last long ~8 hours and it is also great for starting people on hydro holidays.
It can be hard to find with IOP's. An unusual thing is it is also not swallowed it is taked sublingually (dissolve under toungue).

Interesting. Does it have the same effects as Hydro or is it's effects not as strong or is it even stronger?

For over a year and a half (2001-2002) I was treated by a pain specialist with Buprenex. Which at the time was the only US manufacturer of Burenorphine. Be careful in that it is an agonist/antagonist. Meaning it can precipitate withdrawl from opiates such as norco. Will help with withdrawl though. Of course once the symptoms start. The Bubrenex injectible has now been replaced with Suboxone which is taken sublinguily. A combo of bubrenorphine and nalexone. This is to prevent someone from "cooking" it and injecting it. The nalexone has no effect sublinguily but will kick in when used IV. It was a wonderful pain reliever. Lasted a long time. The doctor had me on two vials 3x a day. Worked better than hydro. And I did not develop a tolerance. Used to be schedule 5 now has been changed to schedule 3. I think it's benefits make it a great med for pain management.
Hope this helps .
Best Regards,

Buprenorphine is definitely approved, and regularly used for pain relief in its buprenorphine-only formulary (Buprenex, Subutex and Temgesic)...
Buprenorphine with naloxone is called Suboxone and is used for narcotic addiction treatment/detoxification.
Just a clarification.

subutex is ALL buprenorphine. Suboxone has the naloxone in it, along with the buprenorphine. The naloxone is inactive unless IVed.

So how does it feel. If you had to rate it, is it like Ultram, hydrocodone, stadol, and percocet? I am also interested in this product. I've tried the tramadol, not bad somewhere in between darvon and hydrocodone. I've tried stadol Nasal Spray, it's two steps higher then Davorcet. does it come in generic form in the U.S.? I would try it, if I could receive some input on it's pain-killing effects, afterall it is quite expensive. If anyone's tried it, give me you honest rating on it. Thanx.

I've never tried to get a euphoric feeling off of Temgesic .2mgs, I've only used it to take a holiday from oxycodone. I will tell you that I can go from 150 mg oxycodone to 1.8 mg temgesic over 24 hrs(about 12 hrs inbetween the switch)and not feel the horrible WD feelings. The beauty of the .2 Temgesics are that when you feel that hot sweaty feeling coming, put one under your tongue, let it dissolve, and repeat the process if one doesn't do the trick. It is a godsend for lowering your medication level back to a smaller dose. For those of us who take medication for a long period of time and know for certain that the pain is NEVER going to go away, it's nice to have an alternative for a holiday so a smaller dose will be physically effective, and cost effective. Just my take on this med, hope you guys have a pain free day! KO

The more I read about this, the better it sounds as an aid to dramatically cut high hydro/oxy levels w/o too much w/d.
kewlone4u: When you switched from 150mg oxy to 1.8mg temgesic, how long did you have to stay on the temgesic? Did you taper off it after a while? If so, how long did it take to get free of both?
