Well I've just got my news for the week.
This wednesday, I will be going into the hospital
for heart surgery.
They will be replacing my mitral valve. They repaired
it a few years ago, but apparently the repair did not
correct the problem.
For the past few months, I've been having a lot of
heart palpitations, which in turn causes a shortness
of breath, which in turn causes dizziness and the feeling
of passing out. They seem to happen a lot more regularly
now almost on a daily basis.
Medication hasn't really helped to control these, so they have
decided it best to replace the valve.
Am I scared? Some, but what else can I do? I can't go on living
like this everyday.
So your prayers and thoughts are very much welcome.

Ditto to all of the above! I too wish you God Speed, and may He be with you and your surgeon.
Please post back as soon as you are able to let us all know how it went, and how you are.
My very best to you! Take care!

Dave, I'm with Pickles on this one - in this day and age, it's like a tune-up. Easier said than done, but try not to sweat it. You're going to come out of it better than ever, and once you're fully recovered, I'm sure you'll feel much better.
You will be in my thoughts and prayers this week! Do let us know when you're back with us!

You are such a love, Dave.
I think we are all going to worry until we hear you have come thru successfully.
FWIW, a fair number of my friends have had this surgery lately, some of a congenital condition, others because their heart requires it now.
I noticed that suddenly these surgeries are more accessible. I don't know the reason, but I believe more surgeons have been trained for this in response to having to medicate patients for the rest of their lives with heart meds.
You have much sweetness and spirit to you. I would be terrified if it were a year ago, but I have a couple of surgeries under my belt now (literally ) and I do believe the successes vastly outnumber the failures.
I'll tell you this; I did put down important wishes and people to be remembered--just in case--but I was at home before I remembered to congratulate myself for my follow-thru.
I am going to pray things go exactly the same way for you.

Dear Dave, I will be praying for you along with everyone else here. Take good care of yourself and don't try to rush your recovery, just take things easy and don't get discouraged if you feel you should be healing faster. My mom just had a major surgery and stayed with me for a few weeks and some days she was just so down because she just wanted to be better quicker. And I know the recovery period is hard but just tell yourself how much better you will feel when your all healed. So, take care of yourself, take it nice and easy and keep us posted when you feel up to it. Tammy
