From Woody Pharmacy concerning refills
      #130305 - 01/20/04 09:33 AM

Hello everyone,

We would like to issue a statement for patients that are concerned about their refills. Keeping within our established guidelines, we would like people to call only
2-3 days ahead of their refill date to take care of your transfer. You need not call if your refill is due later than this. We will be up and running in the near future and will be able to fill those later refills.

Thank you,
Woody Pharmacy

Just curious as to what the guideline date is that you are speaking of??? When should we expect our refills to start beig able to be filled again? Just wondering if I need to call ahead or not. Thanks for all the hard work by the way.

Hello again from Woody Pharmacy,

I would just like to reply to patients who are hearing different accounts of our situation. The only posts that you need to look at are the ones that are directly from Woody Pharmacy. That being said, I am the only employee that has been posting for all of us here, and I know that the exact date that we will be accepting refills has not been posted.

We do try to be as up front and honest with our patients as we can, and we want to give you the best care that we can. We understand everyone's frustration at not being able to reach us by phone, but we do check the email several times per day and print everything to give to our pharmacy staff. All of your comments and questions are received and read. Every single one. We do however read a large amount and it takes a while to respond to the ones that are imperative. We are relying largely on the message boards to post answers to frequently asked questions.

The most important question that we have to answer now is, when are we going to be ready to accept refills? Unfortunately, at this time, we are not able to determine an exact date. We are continuing to transfer refills to local pharmacies, United, and TDI. The best thing to do right now is to call or email us for your refill and we will direct you with how to proceed. We are continuing to follow the guidelines established by our company and will only transfer refills due 2-3 days ahead of time. If your refill is not for 2 weeks, please call us when it is due as we may be able to fill it at that time.

Basically, as soon as we know, you will be the first to be notified!

It is VERY commendable and appreciated that your pharmacy is handling this so professionally. I have seen other pharmacies that work with tele-medicine services have problems in the past, and just leave the patients out to dry. Without medications that they depend on daily, and without any knowledge of when/if they will ever receive their medications... It has always frustrated me in the past to see things like that. I must say, you guys are doing a better job than I have ever seen ANY online pharmacy do in a situation such as this. The way you are handling things, not one patient should be left out in the cold. That is amazing. Many pharmacies (especially ones that are highly successful even *without* the mailorder part of the business, such as Woody's) would just ignore the problem - tell the consultation service to 'find a new pharmacy' until the problems were ironed out, and of course - that means, there would be a lapse of time in between the consultation service 'finding a new pharmacy' and many patients would be in bad, bad shape.

The fact that you are working out problems and STILL making sure that YOD and any other consultation service that you work with's patients are taken care of, is very commendable and I must say gives me a renewed faith in humanity. We don't see this happen all too often. You guys could easily 'dump' the consultation services and go back to being a successful brick & mortar pharmacy as you most likely were before, but you seem to have full intentions of making sure all patients (including out of state ones) that have prescriptions with you are taken care of. I give you a HUGE Kudos!! for that Thank you for making us feel like humans that deserve to not be suddenly dropped off from our medications, like some pharmacies would not hesitate for a second to do. Sounds strange I know, but many times in the past I have seen that happen. You guys have always and still are the best! Thanks for being there for all of us.

Hi Snowflakes,

I called Woody's yesterday for my refill and was told that they can no longer ship to my state. I was very surprised, but the man I talked to was very nice and explained to me that I could have my prescription refill transferred to a local pharmacy. I called a pharmacy in my town and they seem surprised by my request, but said they could probably do it, but had to do some checking. I told them to call Woody's (that's what I had been told to do) and they said they would. She asked what the prescription was for and I told her hydrocodone and she kind of said "oh, hmmmmmm". She said she had to talk to her manager and she would get back to me. Maybe it's just me and given the past negative interaction with my doctor about all this, but what kind of things is the pharmacy allowed to ask from me and what are my rights as far as privacy from the pharmacy? I don't feel I have anything to hide, but I am worried (especially with everything that I have been reading on the boards and the things that have been in the newspapers) that they may try to report this in some way (this is sounding very paranoid, I know!). Does this question make any sense? Basically, I am just wondering what my rights are in having an out-of-state prescription filled here in my home town without getting the third degree about it. I am wondering what I tell them when they ask me about the doctor, of course whom I've never met, but have talked to on the phone and YOD has all my records. Has anyone, that you know of, had a problem getting their prescription transferred?
Okay, I will stop rambling now. I'm just nervous with everything that has been in the news and don't want to be thrown in jail over this. I am just a soccer mom with two children and lots of pain and this medication helps me get through my day because I suffer from arthritis and fibromyalgia (then throw menopause on top of that!!). Thanks for listening to this. I would appreciate any feedback you might be able to give me.

Thank you,
basenji

Yep, I had a major problem. Woodys said I didn't have a refill remaining which in fact, I do. YOD doesn't keep RXs on file so they had me calling back & forth between the two with the end result being that I just finally gave up. I thought it a bit strange that YOD didn't keep that info as I would've guessed that is how their doctor knows what the scoop is as to repeat consults. At least the first refills went smoothly & fortunately I didn't send a MO in advance

Wow, I finally feel not alone. I have always kept careful records of all prescriptions. I knew I had one refill left through YOD/Woody's although due to my moving I had not had it filled for over 2 months. I called YOD and they told me to call Woodys and they would transfer it. So I call Woody's and guess what? They tell me I dont have any refills left. I was steamed and not about to play cat and mouse between YOD and a pharmacy in some sort of trouble. I even had the lady at woody look it up and and she even said it was odd that I ONLY got 2 orders filled from my last prescriptions since YOD always gives out 3!!!!( Or 4, if you count the 3 refill bonus they had for a while). Anyway, my rant is over and I for one just feel phillips head SCREWEDriver.

Snaowflakes, I know that you are busy and I appreciate you taking the time to post about all of this. I was hoping that you could answer a question? What EXACTLY are the "new regulations" that are causing such problems? I don't understand how that effects the pharmacy. I'm certain it is because you are filling for ops (I'm sure your regular local customers are still able to walk in and have their scripts filled), but these scripts are written by licensed docs who have reviewed records and spoken to the patient.

What is the new regulation? I'm sure that I am not alone in my curiousity on this. Thank you.

Hello,

I know that many people are concerned and interested in understanding the specific regulation. Basically, it is a gray area involving mail-order prescriptions and telemedicine. Unfortunately, we can't devulge any more details until the matter is settled, I can only assure you that we are working everyday to rectify the situation and be back in business soon. All that we can say to customers now is to continue to contact us for your refills and we will continue to transfer them to another pharmacy until we are back on our feet. As soon as we are up and running again with the mail order prescriptions, we will post a large statement saying that we are ready to accept refills.

As for the patients that feel that they still have a refill, I strongly urge you to send an email to listing your problem and how many refills you believe you have left. Let us know about your post on drugbuyers.com and ask for the exact dates of your refills and how many were prescribed.

As for your feelings on the fact that everything we are doing is legitimate, you are correct. We do keep medical records and we only fill prescriptions that have proper documentation. We understand completely your frustration! Unfortunately, until we get adjusted to the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy's regulation, there is nothing we can do.

Please send ALL of your questions and comments to as we are keeping a file of all of our patients' feelings and responses to the current situation.

Thank you,
Woody Pharmacy

Hello to everyone,

I just wanted to let everyone know that after my last post from yesterday, I did contact a local pharmacy and they called Woody's yesterday and there was no problem at all in having my prescription transferred. The gal I talked to on the phone at the pharmacy here was as nice as could be and my refill will be ready this afternoon! Everything went very smoothly and there was no third degree (like I was so afraid there would be). Thank you to Woody's for helping make this a smooth transition and I do hope that everything with YOD and Woody's gets all straightened out - they really have been a great OP.

Thanks again,
basenji

Does anyone else have access to these records? The new HIPAA laws lead one to believe that it's not possible for someone to "pry" into these records. But then again, big brother knows everything. How true is it that the records you have are safe and secure from LE, BB and any other official who wanted to inquire.

I'm probably being paranoid, but I'm very leary that these places have so much information.

What's the general feeling on this from you guys?

Lovely,
Thank you for asking that question - I was also wondering WHY a pharmacy would keep medical records. As far as I know, my local mom and pop and Eckerds do not keep my records. What does that mean? Woody is a wonderful pharmacy but that statement makes me very uncomfortable.

I hope that snowflakes will comment on this when she checks back in.
