For those (like me) who buy these cards for protection, guess what? You can easily lose the full amount that you put on these cards. (I realize that this is still some protection in that it is a limited loss.)
My experience: When my order (IOP) didn't arrive 2 weeks after the due date, and they refused to even acknowledge my emails, I decided to start a dispute. I called the CC co. and they said to follow the instructions online. Searching online....searching....where is it? Oh, in the fine print under disputes: Bank is not reponsible for merchandise quality or delivery. To dispute, contact the merchant. !!!! In other words, no disputing with them (i-GEN prepaid Master Card). Thankfully it went through My Paysystems, and they are helping me.
That is definitely less protection than I thought I had.

Wow-
That's really valuable information that you shared.
You would think it would be safe with a pre-paid CC and disputing would be just like with a regular card. I guess that reitterates() to ALWAYS read the fine print, that's where all these companies and places hide stuff.

I'm not sure, but I think mine were $10. They will mail you the card, but you can register it with your receipt and the instructions they give so you can use it online almost immediately. You did understand the warning above right? Wish you well.

At CVS, I think it's $9.95 for the privelege of getting the card. Then you have to go online or call to activate it. At that point, they will give you some BS about paying $20-30 to have a restriction on age-verified websites removed. I've never paid that fee, and I've never had any problem ordering from any kind of medication website. If someone has experience with "other websites where age might matter" , please let us know. The company that supplies this card (not CVS, the issuing "bank") is a big PITA to deal with, that's why I don't do this anymore. But, it is a viable option for many people. I just use my regular credit card now- I've never had any problems with my chargebacks not working.

Thanks for the info.If it's only $10 that would be great.I will get one tomorrow and will be using an U.S. OP and check that everyone is getting their orders before order.

Not a problem. They are handy, I just got surprised by the no chargeback thing. If you go in knowing, you can plan ahead. You can later reload the card for $4 or $5. Take care.

If you are near a simon mall, you can get a simon visa gift card. They work just like a visa debit card and are accepted everywhere visa is. There is only 1.50 service fee when you purchase it. If you dont have a simon mall near you, you can go online and order there...but I think they charge shipping to send it so it may work out to the $10 that the CVS one charges if you go the online route.
They are a one time thing. no reloading. You are not charged a monthly fee until 6 months pass. After 6 months, if you still have a balance, they charge a 2.50 service fee monthly. Im sure that they have the same terms as the problem above. I dont think they are responsible for merchandise or service bought with the card.
