I was reading the post about tweaking on codeine and the poster menioned his eyes were pinpoints.
My eyes always look like that even when I am not on hydro. My dentist told me its due to my long term TMJ I have and my bodys fight or flight response. I have to wear sunglasses all the time when I go outside no matter what the weather is like.
I take 10/325 Norcos 1 every 4 to 5 hours depending on whether its a work day or not. Up to 4 a day total so that is 40mg/1300, is this enough to od? I don't think so. I only say od as I was trying to research after reading that post on tweaking and someone mentioned od'ing. One site I went to said to beware if your eyes are pinpoints. Again my eyes have been like this for a long time.
I have only been on Hydro for 2 1/2 months . Any advice?

Myosis (pinpoint pupils) is a common side-effect of the use of opiates. Even with ONE dose, myosis can occur (and may last longer than the dose does.)
Myosis causes no physiological problems and certainly wouldn't make you photosensitive (needing to wear sunglasses in bright light) as it is the body's natural response to light to close up the pupil to prevent burning of the retina.
If you are taking hydro in any amount (but especially with higher doses) you will probably suffer myosis. Even if you go on hydro holidays this may not change (although DILATION of the pupil is a common opiate withdrawal symptom.) My pupils never get larger during withdrawal (probably because I have been on long-acting narcotics for over 10 years.)
I really wouldn't worry about it.

I think that your eyes are pinpoints when your on opiates. My eyes are pinpoints when I take just one hydro! When the hydro wears off my pinpoints turn normal!
Just puttin my 2 cents worth! LOL!

If opiates cause pinpoint pupils, this is again a way in which I am different from the human species. I just got up and looked at my eyeballs, and they look perfect normal.
Now, one time I had one eye dilate to twice the size of my other eye, and the opthamologist ascertained that it was the allergic eyes drops I had been using. My niece noticed it, and the next time I saw her - I told her what it was.
She used to be an opthamologic assistant - so it was fascinating to her. Oh, well, just call me weird.

Myosis is more common with morphine and heroin. Don't know why, but I don't get as pinny on methadone as I did on MSContin.
But it has been years since I WASN'T on opiates so I wouldn't know what their "normal" size is!

I find it quite odd that you must wear sunglasses outside when your pupils are quite small. Normally, your pupils decrease in size when you go out in sunlight to let less light in, protecting your retina.
On the other hand, if you have greatly dilated pupils, that is when you NEED sunglasses to see. Such as when you go to the eye doc and they give you the drops to dilate your eyes. That calls for sunglasses, not the pinpoint pupils.
I myself notice my own pinpoint pupils on hydro and it doesn't affect my ability to be in the sun at all. But I do get that phenomenon.

This is a little OT, but I just noticed recently that my eyes also pinpoint on Ultram. They REALLY pinpoint on hydro, regardless of the dose, but I had never noticed it before on ultram until the past few days. I usually take 3 per day so it's definitely not an OD symptom for me. Anyone else pinpoint on ultram?
