Does anyone know an 800 number for Fedex? I need to call them to pick up a package. Is there one 800 # that I can call or do I need to find an 800# for TN? Any help is appreciated.

800-254-3011 I'm assuming this will work for your area. If not, they can give you the correct number.

1-800-463-3339 or spell it out: (1-800)-GO-FEDEX
One number fits all.

I have had experience with picking up a package before delivery was attempted. They had no problem with it. I knew the package wouldn't be delivered untill late because it was not priority, so I just wanted to get it early myself.

For everyone's reference, it's up to the local hub to decide if they will let you do that- pick up the package at the hub before a delivery attempt. Your chances of this are better if you call the local hub directly and explain your situation, be nice about it but don't take no for an answer- it works.
I don't know how that works with UPS, I try to avoid any contact with my local hub because they are a bunch of idiots (which is too bad- most people here seem to like UPS)- I've gotten Next Day Air packages as late as 2:30 (supposed to be there by 10:30).

I have asked FedEx to hold at the hub for pick up before a a delivery attempt and they told me no. But ONE TIME, I explained that there were film crews on my street and that the street was blocked off. That was the only time they agreed to hold it at the hub for pickup the morning it was to be delivered.

I asked them to hold a package before delivery attempt once. Their answer was no, their first responsibility was to the sender...they had to attempt delivery first. Even though it was aggravating from my standpoint, I can understand as they gave the sender a timeframe for delivery.

Now that's a good one! I work in the film and video production industry and have blocked off many a street. Glad to have been of "service" to you! As for getting FedEx or UPS to hold a package for pickup before a delivery attempt has been made, I've used a different ploy. I call customer service and ask for an address confirmation. Once they read it to me I tell them that the shipper made a big mistake. I explain that it's an old address and if they try to deliver it, it will be a headache for everyone because I have no idea who lives there now and god forbid someone there signs for it. I've used this story VERY sparingly, but it has always worked. Just make sure you phone as early as you can.

Thank you all. My problem is that they tried to deliver it I suppose, but when I trakced it, it said wrong address. Not sure why? I think it had only my partial apt. # on it. It isnot meds, but all the same I do not want it sent back.

I guess I have a lucky hub. I have picked up many, many that were not slated for delivery until the following day. I simply print out my Fedex tracking page, breeze in and tell the clerk that the 1-800 person said I could run in myself. Not only has the clerk never hesitated, but also is an interesting guy who will pass some time in nice chit-chat.
Fedex seems to be on the ball for the pending holiday. I just got tracking notification early this morning for delivery tomorrow, then around 9 CST updated to "On Fedex Vehicle For Delivery." I love Fedex, nary a negative experience to date.

Fed ex is great. Unfortunatley, though, my husbands order from buymeds looks like it will actually take two days to be delivered. All the other times, they were able to get it here in one day. But I guess the busy holiday season has slowed them down a bit. If the package arrives at the local station today, I think my husband will try to get it himself. It looks like, on the tracking site, that it got held up in Memphis. It didn't leave there untill 5:30 this morning. ALl the other times, it had left Memphis around 4 AM. Oh well. As long as it gets here before X-mas, I think he'll be okay.

Especially for FedEx, it is best to use the hub address as your shipping address. That way the shipper does not have to mark it "hold for pickup" and you can ship standard overnight and pick it up by 9:00 AM. I do that for UPS also, but they are better about putting things on hold before a delivery attempt than FedEx. With FedEx, even if they put "hold for pickup" in the address but don't check the "hold for pickup" box, they won't hold it for pickup. Using the hub address takes care of that problem because then they don't have to mark the "hold for pickup" box because when it gets to the hub, it is at the delivery address.
When I was using TDI and they shipped FedEx only, the local hub told me to just use their address as my shipping address and then I could pick it up after 9:00 AM. With UPS, you can pick it up anytime that morning, as early as 7:00 AM.
I have found this works better, I don't have to sit home until it comes, I don't have to pay for Priority so that I only have to stay home until 10:30 AM. I save money and I just go out when I'm ready (at UPS I can go on my way to work, at FedEx I have to wait until lunch) and it is easier. The one thing to remember though...if you use the hub address and you want a Saturday delivery, you still have to request Saturday delivery and pay the extra for Saturday delivery.
I would suggest using the Hub address for FedEx or UPS for anyone that is close enough to the hub to pick it up. You save money(Priority delivery time for overnight amount), you don't have to sit at home and wait.

OK I really didnt read this post so I am not sure if its about how good or how bad FEDEX is....but my story is a bad one......
When my package\s come Fed Ex they are always on time....but the problem for me is....my driver always takes it upon him selfe to take the package to where my wife works( its abouta mile away) and give it to her for some reason......I hate this....espeacially since he walks into here office this last time(yesterday).....and says".MORE DRUGS.."......hudla hudla......now this guy is a tottal @$$ if you ask me and that is something you just do not do.....its his proiorty to deliver the package to where it is suppose to go.....I cant remember the last time he came here with one of my packs,,,,,,and I am even home by 4, so that would give him a half hour still to deliver to me at home........So , for now on I will have them hold the pack at the hub(which is 25 miles from me) or send it UPS....(where the hub is just a mile away from me) and I can pick it up there. Just a little horror story from me about the personal theat fedex decides to have deliver ther packaged......in my eyes I hate them after all of this and hopefully I will not have to use them again in the near future,,,,,,,FED EX IS THE WORST CARRIER COMPANY AVALIBLE!!!

legan, I hope you did get your package. My tracking info showed mine held later than usual in Memphis as well, then due for delivery today, but of course it suddenly showed scanned onto the truck yesterday way later in the day than usual. However, they usually run here around 11:30, and we had to leave town no later than 2. He still hadn't come, but as we were leaving town, who do we see at a local business but the Fedex truck! He saw my truck pull up, and before I even got to his truck he had my pkg. in hand! I love the guy. Wish everyone had Fedex service like ours.
Another little anecdote about my driver. He's totally in love with my dog! Since I've been ill, he has let me know that, in the ungodly event that I am not able to ultimately keep her, he will take her, love her and give her a good home. How great is that?
Anyway, I hope everyone got/gets their packages on time and has a happy holiday.

I remember posting this in another thread, I have my pkgs sent to a shipping place like The UPS store, called "Pony mailboxes". They don't make me have a box with them, they just sign for the pkg and occasionally charge me a few bucks. I watch tracking info or call up and go get it after delivery. Also, becasue it's a mailbox place, the driver get's there early and drops of the afternoon packages in the morning, so I never have had to wait until the end of the day.
