Prosecutor: Unseal Limbaugh's Med Records
By JILL BARTON
Associated Press Writer
WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) -- Rush Limbaugh's seized medical records are "relevant and necessary" to a prescription drug investigation and should be unsealed, a prosecutor argued in court papers Friday.
The conservative radio commentator has asked the court to keep the records sealed, saying investigators violated his privacy by seizing the records last month and that without them he cannot be treated for his medical conditions.
A judge will hear arguments on the issue next week.
Prosecutors are investigating whether Limbaugh obtained and used prescription painkillers illegally. No charges have been filed.
The records must remain sealed under Florida law unless the state shows a compelling reason to view them.
Prosecutors say the medical records support their allegations that Limbaugh went "doctor-shopping" for prescription painkillers. Search warrants list prescriptions from four doctors from March 24 through Sept. 26.
Limbaugh's attorney, Roy Black, has said the records show Limbaugh had legitimate reasons for taking pain medication. The attorney also said the prosecutor had political motives in pursuing a case against Limbaugh.
Limbaugh surprised listeners to his radio show in October by announcing he was entering drug rehabilitation. His announcement came days after news reports about the criminal investigation surfaced.

Perhaps it is a niave question, but what is the relevance of Niacin? You don't need a script for that, right?

I don't know why he was taking Niacin - but this is a theory - I have read alot of literature about how people take large doses of Niacin to clean their systems out. They do it pass drug screenings, and they also do it in an attempt at lowering their tolerance.... Niacin basically has the effect of burning chemical and other residue from your system, if you take a large dose of it - You become very red and flushed, and sweat like crazy for several hours - but apparently it 'cleans' your system. Wonder if he was trying to lower his tolerance to the opioids? I have seen where people use large amounts of Niacin for this reason?

They better not unseal his records. If that is ever done it is a dangerous thing. That would open the door for employers to see records and people not get jobs because of illness, etc. If a person has any kind of chronic illness a company might not want to hire them or might fire them because they know they would be off work a lot.
Allowing his records to be unsealed would be a dangerous setback for every single person in the United States, chronic illness or not.

I READ A RESEARCH PAPER ON THE NET. ABOUT DEXTROMETHORPHAN HBr (DXM - COUGH SUPPRESSANT)AND AT MODERATE DOSAGES (IT WAS 50MG/ORAL )IT LOWERED THE TOLERANCE OF OPIODS IN HUMANS. I WOULD HAVE TO LOOK AROUND TO FIND THE SITE AGAIN, BUT I BELIEVE THAT IT TURNS OUT,THAT DXM IS USED BY ALOT OF PEOPLE TO LOWER THEIR TOLERANCE OR INCREASE THE EFFECTS OF OPIODS? (I THINK THE RESEARCHER USED HYDRO. IN HIS RESEARCH.) IF ANYONE HAS ANY INFO. ON THIS, PLEASE POST OR PM ME ? THANKS, CHEESE

It's the kind of thing opioids.com would have an article on. They also had one about proglumide that I read a while back, and that seems to work for some people in lowering tolerance. Proglumide might be something worth looking into, but I kind of doubt it has a dramatic effect if you have a high tolerance- would love for someone to prove me otherwise.
DXM does potentiate opiates a bit, in my experience it hasn't lowered tolerance (some people say it does, though). But it also changes the effects, a bit of a rougher feeling, a less clean opiate come-on, if you will.
