I saw my docotr and he wants me to try this pain killer, 1 a day, at 30 mgs. This is my first class 2 drug. I have reservations about something in this class because of the addicting properties. But presently I am taking Norco 10/325 at 4 a day.
Is norco as addicting? IS the avinza a lot stronger than norco?
My doctor wants me to have a 24 hour pain pill to break the pain cycle due to my disability.
I know that I have a great doctor but I don't want to build up a tolerance in case I get something like cancer and there is nothing legally stronger to take the pain away. I also don't want to end up like Rush. But the Norco does not seem to work very well since I have been one it in various dosages (alternating with lortab 10) for several years.
And I know if I rock the boat since the avinza was entirely his idea, I might be left without any pain meds (or doctor.
I would appreciate anyone with actual experience or knows someone who has taken this drug to post me either privately or reply to this post.

Paranoia is just hightened awareness.
Avinza:
AVINZA is a capsule that comes in several strengths (30 mg, 60 mg, 90 mg, and 120 mg) and
contains the medicine morphine (MOR-feen), in an extended-release form. AVINZA treats
moderate to severe pain that is expected to last for more than a few days. Each capsule
contains enough medicine to last for 24 hours.
Some of the common side effects of AVINZA are constipation, nausea, drowsiness, and
itching. Some of these side effects may decrease with continued use. These are not all the
possible side effects of AVINZA.
Constipation is a common side effect of opioids, including AVINZA. You may wish to discuss
steps to prevent or relieve constipation with your healthcare provider.
There is a risk of abuse or addiction with narcotic painkillers. If you have abused drugs in the
past, you may have a higher chance of developing an abuse problem or addiction again while
using AVINZA. It is not known how often patients with continuing (chronic) pain become
addicted to narcotics, but the risk has been reported to be small.
Hope this helps you understand a bit more about the medication.
