I ordered from OP that uses UPS and requested 2nd day air and I show tracking states delivery 12/15/03, but of course the delay in pharmacy/shipping caused this to get bumped up an extra day and now I won't get order on Friday, although I ordered in plenty of time for Fri./delivery. Can someone tell me their experiences w/2nd day UPS if they got it earlier? I have a tracking # and confirms for 12/15. But also has anyone tried to pick up at UPS hub before weekend? Thanks in advance, lastyls

I am pretty sure you cannot pick anything up that has not had a delivery attempt first. UPS needs the slip that is left on your door in order for you to claim your package at the hub. Sometimes though, people are lucky enough to get their package next day instead of second day. Hope this helps some.
I always choose next day as it is only about 10-12 dollars more and unfortuntely UPS and/or FedEx will sometimes hold your pckage until the actual date it is due, even if it is ready to go out. Doesn't make much sense, but that is the way it works....good luck to you.

I have done a lot of 2 day UPS deliveries and have never received a shipment early.
However, I have been able to pick up from the hub with no problem.
Not sure about weekends though.
Fedex is the shipper that has never allowed me to pick up from their hub.

My experience is that UPS will NOT attempt delivery before the actual date, and they are less than happy to try and find it for you at the hub. If you call CS they definitely won't help you with that, though if you go down in person with tracking number in hand and a pleasant attitude they MIGHT try and find it for you. It just all depends on how it has been sorted, if they can get their hands on it at all.

I always order 2nd day, but get it the next. I've never had UPS hold an order until the 2nd or 3rd day (or the expected date of delivery). I've been up to the hub early in the morning when they were putting the packages on the trucks, and I can tell you that by the time the trucks pull out of the hub, the place is empty of all packages except the ones that are "hold for pickup."
Can't say anything about Fedex though.

When I order 2-day UPS AND FedEx, I always receive them a day early.
This, of course, does not happen to everybody. Perhaps it depends on where you live...

Well another different experience:
(Looks like UPS and FedEx is a little different in every town in the U.S, doesn't it? I think alot depends on customer service at the customer hubs (not the sorting facilities, the place where you go pick up a pkg) -
For instance, with UPS I have NEVER gotten a 2nd Day Air Shipment early. Infact, the whole process goes slower. In my exeperience, 99% of the time I have gotten UPS 2nd Day Air- and I monitor the tracking info - it gets held overnite in another city's sort facility, usually about mid-way from the busniess that is shipping, and my town. (I am talking all kinds of UPS orders, everything from amazon.com to YOD)
It usually 'takes it's time' thru transit and stops in somewhere about 500 miles away and then moves again the next morning, arriving in my town the night before delivery. Between books, computer parts, clothes, DVD's, gifts, and medicines - not onceI have had UPS bring a pkg. early. (Although they are always right on time)
With FedEx, I'd say 9 times out of 10 when I order 2nd Day Air, I get it the next day. It could be *any time* the next day, since they are technically going off their route to do a favor. What usually happens with FedEx is different than UPS completely. Instead of taking longer in transit (to my city) - it arrives overnite everytime, and then from what I gather it is put on the correct truck the same night, so the thing will be - A) How much extra time the driver has that day B) How close the driver is to your home when he has this extra time and C) How often you receive things from FedEx (any kind of pkg's) - I shop online so much, that my FedEx driver is almost like a friend - so he ALWAYS comes to my house with 2nd day air mail, the day early. He always says 'It's on my truck, and my route brings me right by your house, and since I know how to get here so well, I thought I'd surprise you with an early delivery. I love my FedEx Man.
With UPS , in my experience, the problem isn't that it the pkg IS on the truck early, and he just decides not to bring it until due date, it's that it doesn't even arrive in my town until the night before scheduled delivery. It is different everywhere I suppose. Different hubs and different locations have different methods. The one method they both ALWAYS follow is that they are both almost always (99.9999999% of the time) ON TIME at least. But only FedEx will go the extra mile so to speak, for me.....
One thing you can do, if you are worried about not being home to sign for package (besides having it delivered to your work or wherever you may be that day) - is actually put the address of the UPS or FedEx hub as the 'Shipping Info' when you order online. As long as your billing info matches that on the credit card, you can ship anywhere (except P.O boxes with most places, or maybe all (in the case of U.S OP's) - So you can always do that and it will be at the hub awaitin' for ya. Hope this helps..... BTW I live in the SouthEast U.S if this sheds more light. (Your experience may be similar to others in your general area)

This just happened to me. It ordered a refill from Woody Pharmacy thru YOD, and requested 3 day priority, and got it a day early.
I believe that when UPS gets the package, no matter how early, they deliver it, especially around this busy holiday season.
BTW, Woody Pharmacy and YOD are the best

Well, I have not gotten my ups packages early, but my Fed-ex yes. I always request 2 day to save money, and usually have it a day early....here's how it happens.
When and if i have a tracking #, shows at our city-- out for delivery a day early. I guess I am lucky, first of all, the driver lives and takes his lunch by my home.
Secondly, once when i didn't get it early, and i inquired why (when tracking, first showed out for delivery a day early, then when i didn't receive it and checked, was changed to not due for delivery, back at fed ex--scheduled for the next day), they told me if they receive it a day early, and have time, they will deliver it early. If they don't have time to stop, they rescan it back in for the next day.
Also, again i am lucky, i live near the hub....if i have a tracking #, depending on who it is, i can pick it up if i miss it, or want it early.

I agree.... UPS NO, FedEx ::::ALWAYS! FedEx is more expensive, but by far the best. And frankly, if you're willing to "risk" the second day, you can save money by ordering anything FedEx second day with an excellent chance of getting it in 24 hours.
Having said that, if you NEED your meds that bad, don't screw with it.

Lastyls,
I am in the same boat as you, except I paid $52.00 for Saturday delivery through FedEx! And I am out of meds too! I called FedEx and they put in a request to have it delivered to me tomorrow, but with my luck it wont be here until Monday like it says on the tracking page! I have the worst luck! If I get the package tomorrow I will be shocked! I do know the FedEx guy pretty well too!

I usually get my FedExes delived 2nd day, but they are always delivered on the 2nd day, never early. That's at least for where I am living now. When I used to live in S. Carolina, I would receive my 2nd day FedExes usually next day before noon.

Sometimes yes, Sometimes no.... I get FedEx 2nd Day when given the choice. If you track the package, it almost always arrives in your city in one day and shows "out for delivery" on the tracking site. I asked the driver about this and he puts it on the truck and delivers it the first day if he has time. It is the lowest priority. He will deliver, or try to, on the true scheduled date.

With Woody's I can actually order the 3 day shipping and always get it the next day. I just live about 3 hours away so that's probably why. That's why I love Woody's, besides their great prices, I can order the cheapest shipping. FedEx is always on time, but I have never gotten anything early. Merry Christmas to everyone! EMJ
