So once again the US government is starting a crack down on internet drug sales.
Its not like we have an undocumented illegal alien problem that needs more manpower. Its not like tens of thousands of students are missing from their colleges and have overstayed their visas. Its not like corporate thieves are stealing hundreds on millions or dollars from everyday workers and pensioners. Naaaaaa none or this is happening in our nation so we dont need to divert valuable manpower from their ultra important job of busting internet med shops that sale schIII drugs to citizens in pain or worse.
It seems like just as were making progress like having pain added to the list of vital signs and congress is on the brink of voting for a RX importation act the walls came tumbling down. The anti narc freaks seem to have risin again and because of the stupid Medicare RX entitlement and the pharmaceutical lobby all hope of relaxing or even approving the importation of less expensive drugs is gone. Its like I fell asleep and woke up in a nightmare. Will we ever live in a country were our elected representatives wont sell there souls for a penny or two and will actually care about us ?? United States of Canada anyone ??

Amen to that.!! I'm proud to be part of the American dream and a great country of citizens, but the laws and regulations that have been passed or are being voted upon recetly, have made me feel very sad to be an amerikan.
Yes I spelled Amerikan wrong, because recent times have shown me that this is NOT in fact the land of the free.

Its those Best if kept off the board puritanical roots that America has. Because pain killers have to potential to give people a "buzz" then they are automatically and irreversibly stigmatized even though they have tremendous therapeutic benefits to people.

What do you hate so much about these types of posts?? I don't understand what the grip is when all the main poster was saying...is that the government makes un-wise decisions when it comes to health care. There's no anit-american centament involved, just good ol' fashion griping that makes sense. A person has the right to express their feelings on certain issues.. that's why we have free speech. I'm not saying I don't like America.. if you read I say I don't like some of the policies that have been put in place recently.

I have to respectfully disagree with you on this issue - Yes you can do something about it!!! Call, write or email your senator, your representative, letters to the editor - heck, why stop there - write a letter to the President! Never forget that these people work for us!!! One of the things that makes our country so great is that as citizens, we have the right to voice our dissatisfaction and complaints, to protest any injustice we perceive, and work to make changes. Sure, it takes time and lots of effort, but change can - and does - happen! And granted, our system is not without flaws, but... in my opinion - it's the best in the world.
As citizens of the US, we not only have the right to speak up about what we don't like, we are free to do something about it. And don't forget that these rights come with responsibilities - do you vote? While it sometimes may not seem like it, the ballot box is a powerful voice, and shame on those who don't use it! Like the old saying goes, "Those who don't vote, can't complain."
In my very humble opinion, 99% of the so-called "drug problems" in the US could be solved - or made considerably better - by taking control out of the hands of the judicial system, and putting it back where it belongs - in the medical system. The justice department has no business practicing medicine, and we are all suffering because they are doing just that.
Please don't mistake my post as a personal insult - I certainly don't intend it that way. There is another thread on this board about a "Pain March" in Washington, D.C. As Chronic Pain sufferers, we need to stand up for ourselves and let everyone know our plight. To sit back, remain silent and invisible is allowing only one side of the story to be heard. Politicians, the DEA and it's "War on Drugs" along with lawyers like those who are bringing class action suits about Oxycontin (and many others) have convinced the general public - and our judicial system - that anyone taking pain medication is a "druggie," weak in character, and pretty near downright immoral! WE know it's not true, but if we don't speak up for ourselves, who will? And how will any of this ever change???
Just my 2 cents worth. Thanks for allowing me to vent.

In reply to this post, I AM thinking about moving to Canada.
Decent, caring doctors (compared to US doctors), beautiful country, friendly, liberal thinking people, the fact that .75 cents gets you about one Canadian dollar these days automatically increasing my pension by 25 percent, most of the major cities are bult on the boarder to this country so you can alsways visit when you are in the mood for self-abuse, and many more reasons than to stay in Amerika and suffer or live pain free (and free) in another country is enticing. Personally, if my pension would allow me to afford to live where I really wanted, I would live in Norway or Danmark since they have one of the highest standards of living and their governments are their to help people even though they do pay high taxes. At least they don't get into wars like the Iraq mess.

I'm sure glad there were plenty of whiners around back in 1776....and I'm happy we've had some other great whiners since then like Martin Luther King or even on a global scale, how about that old whiner Ghandi. People can make a difference and it all starts with talking or "whining" if you'd like to call it that.
I'm glad we still live in a democratic republic so that whiners like all of us can change things around us if we don't like them.
Also, I'd like to point out that this is a discussion board....so if you don't like people discussing or "whining" about things then maybe you shouldn't read discussion boards. Not to be insulting or anything....I'm just whining my way through life

Also, I didn't get all my thoughts out in that last post Why is it that whenever someone disagrees with what the government is doing on some issue, theres a certain segment of people who always say "well if you don't like it, go somewhere else"? What the heck kinda attitude is that? These are also, just generalizing here, the people who claim to be uberpatriotic and pro-america....yet they seem to despise one of the ideals which makes america great, freedom of speech and freedom to disagree with your government. I disagree with our government on a lot of issues, but I don't want to go anywhere else...I love america, thats (ironically) why I complain about it a lot. Because I believe in america and am disappointed when I see things happening which I think betray what this country is about. However, let me praise america for a moment too...I'm glad we're here and not in china where we'd probably be in prison cells right now for some of the things that have been written about our government. And let me also say that I'm not going to leave, I'm gonna sit my butt right here in america and complain about whatever I want to complain about for the rest of my life!

Oh crud! Come on, people, there are 100 senators and 435 Representatives in the House. It takes more than just the President to affect policy in this country! I don't particularly care for Bush, but he isn't solely responsible for the anti-drug legislation on the books today.
The 2004 vote is extremely important! No single candidate can make all the changes we want. RESEARCH your candidates (I don't care if they are from the ALIEN party--don't vote for somebody unless you have researched their past political stances and support their current political agenda!) And VOTE! Drive your neighborhood old lady to vote, talk to your family, friends and neighbors and encourage them to vote. It DOES count, but more importantly--you don't have the right to complain about anything if you DON'T vote!!!
And I'd give my last breath to move to the UK, but unless you are wealthy, are an accomplished doctor or sports figure, or marry a citizen from the country you wish to move to, it just isn't a matter of choice! Immigration laws are in place all over the world for a reason, and they don't just apply to 3rd world people trying to move into a 1st world country.
Let's put the blame to rest and work to solve the problem by doing what we can. Arguing politics here is a bad choice.

OK ya wanna jump on me? I just wanna say that I'm not trying to Best if kept off the board anyone off but, hey, you all jumped on me with your political garbage. And I hate politics. And I hate arguing.
"I AM thinking about moving to Canada." Nobodys holdin a gun to you head to stay here.
Write your senators, politicians whoever, and let me know when one of them actually reads your letters. Then when they read your letter and legalize drugs tell me, so I can go into the drug store and buy some percocets for my back without going through the Dr. hassle.
Never gonna happen...
And to the one who says "I'm gonna sit on my butt and just complain about everything." Nice, spoken like a true patriot. Need more chips??
"Well, Sweat, why don't you go register at the Happy Board and save yourself all the grief us whiny chronic pain sufferers lay out?" Oh lighten up. No, I dont no anything about suffering with chronic pain, Duh.
Martin Luther King a whiner??? I dont think so. Go read your history books again.

Speaking of the Pharmacutical GIANTS, can someone tell me one product/service that is not open for free trade?
I have really racked my brain and decided that the Phar Corps are the last sacred COW.
I can buy a car from Japan, Korea, Germany, etc. Almost all of my clothing comes from Hong Kong, China, or the phillipines. The keyboard Im typeing on was made in the US, but with parts from around the world. I can go to Thailand and have them contract to do my business paper work(not a bad idea with how I hate paper work). All my electronics are made in Japan, Malaisie, Korea. My washer and dryer and refigerator are made in Mexico. Speaking of Mexico, or Canada what happened to NAFTA. What goods are not covered in NAFTA agreement???? Medication is the only one I can think of.
I know this is not right on subject, but does anyone see my point?
