Mixing Hydro and Ultram new
      #121280 - 12/08/03 04:06 PM

Is it safe to have both of these in your system at the same time? I normally would not have to do this, but on occasion have taken Ultram, then an hour or two later taken the hydro. Anyone know if this is safe or not?

Oops...guess I should have actually "previewed" my post. Obviously I meant to say Hydro...just being distracted by my two boys (9 & 3). Sorry.

I have done it in the past and have had no problems.
Actually for some reason it seems that if I am on Ultram and I take any Hydro at all, the effects of the Hydro are slightly diminished. But that is just me. I think that everyone is effected differently.

hydro seems to be more effective, but ultram is more readily available and cheaper so if you find that ultram works, i'd stick with that. if ultram isn't effective enough, then consider switching to hydro. JMO

Having been on both ultram and hydro for a while, I'd pick the hydro for pain management any day. My shrink actually prescribes the ultram for "emotional emergencies" (I swear, that's what the script reads.) Helps with the mood swings of manic-depression. There've actually been studies done that show that ultram is a pretty crappy painkiller, but that it leaves you feeling happier, so you don't notice the pain as much.

That is so true for me...the Ultram definitely lifts my mood...as the Hydro seems to make me anxious. The Ultram is opposite...totally gets me in a good mood. Thought it was just my imagination.
