Quite simply, Hydro.

Agreed, it is hydro, moreover I read in a medical journal that there is a very fine line between a theraputic and lethal dose of Darvon.

I have to vote on Hydro being more effective too. Also I read awhile back somewhere on this board that Darvon is much more lethal to your liver.

Darvon is not even as strong as regular codeine, IMO....

The most effective pain killer would be the mildest one you can get by with. If Darvon kills your pain you don't need a stronger one such as hydro. I have used Darvon for lower back pain for years, and I only use something stronger if the Darvon doesn't work. I don't think its possible to answer that question without knowing what level of pain you have, or how often you need pain meds.

Yeah......darvon is really a terrible drug from everything I've read. The lethal dose is relatively low and its effectiveness in a clincal trial was shown to be about equivalent to the pain relief from tylenol. So doctors prescribing it for moderate to severe pain are really setting their patients up for trouble because of its ease of overdose coupled with its ineffectiveness. Plus it was originally created to be non-addicting and its also addictive too...makes you wonder why its even still around.

Hydro is a much stronger pain medication than darvon.
