Hi all,
I've often seen mention of some people using prepaid debit cards ( that is, a card that is not from a bank - for security purposes when ordering online, since some OPs have been known to double charge or worse ). Example of use: just putting the exact amount of $$ on the card to cover the cost of an order - and no more.
What I can't recall are the places mentioned where such a card can be obtained. Would someone point me in the direction to where I might obtain such a card ??
Thanks a million,
Grumpy ( not really ! )

Oh man, I just saw right below that this topic is already being discussed. Sorry for my repeating the same question.

Thanks Paidfo !
I have no Rite-Aid stores near me but CVS is everywhere around here. They sound like they offer just what I'm looking for. Thanks again.

Hello, besides the amount needed for your order, do you know how much it costs at Rite Aid for one of these cards?

Some of the banks carry Visa Gift Cards that are not refuleable and the cost is 2.95 per card. Much cheaper than the ones from Riteaid or CVS. I believe they are around 9.95 plus 5.95 each time you put money on them and there is also a monthy maintaince fee on the account.
I get mine from National City Bank. Here is a link from there you can check to see it there is one in your area.
www.nationalcity.com/giftcard
This is the only card I have ever used at an OP and never had a problem with it, the name on the card does not matter, because it come back "gift card" instead of a name.

Are there any you can get online immediately and charge up with a credit card, and then they just give you a number you can use to buy things online? Like you'd use your credit card to put $200 on the new card, then after the charge was approved you'd get a credit card number for your "gift card" that you could use immediately just for online purposes?

Yawkaw-
Many retailer offer Visa Gift Cards. You can just go buy one (it spends like any credit card and is available immediately.) They come in several different dollar amounts.
Here's a link
Another link
I believe you can buy them at Target (they are good anywhere, not just at Target.) too.
Hope this helps.

YAWKAW, THE free & clear card from cvs , rite aid , you can use immediately as soon as you load money on it and call them with your name & address etc. Just let them know that you want to use it right away so you need the acct. number. It only cost about 20 dollars to open .
Other cards are chexcard-- cost more to open, but has a nice website where you can track your transactions from the whole year.
Wired plastic is another one -- i am not sure how much to open.
rush card has one, and you pay nothing until they send you the card and you load the card. But this takes weeks to get the card.
liberty card-- i got an email for that one the other day-- dont know the details.
The national city card sounds good ,but you load it with money and it Cannot be reloaded, when the moenys depleted you need another card.

Also alot of these cards let you have money directly deposited into it from your paycheck or pension or government check.
The cvs or rite aid are reloaded in the stores.Chexcard , rush card is loaded thru party stores that will moneygram it for you, and then it is available within a few hours.Cvs or rite aid is the fatest available funds that i know of.

That is right, but at 2.95 it is cheaper than just the loading of the refuelable cards, not to mention the initial cost of the other cards and the monthly fees!!
