I received my monthly script for a new place this past week. The prescribing info states this...
Take one or two tablets every 6 to 8 hours as needed for pain.
I was wondering about the refill policy since it will be around x-mas this month. According to what the dr wrote, I *could* take 8 tablets each day, correct? I received 120 tabs so technically these pills *could* be consumed in only 15 days, correct?
I just called the pharmacy and asked. They referred me to the pharmacist and she stated that I could only refill them every 25 days UNLESS I called the dr and had them call the pharmacy and let me have ONE early refill. I kindly said thank you for explaining it to me BUT these tabs could only last for 15 days, right? She said yes but you can't refill them for 25 days.
What gives with this? Why would a dr write a script like this and then have the pharmacy tell me the pills have to last 25 days plus days in transit? Don't they have to take in acct what the dr wrote and figure the refill date according to that info?
This just doesn't make any sense to me! Why did the dr write like that if the pharmacy isn't going to allow it anyways? Isn't the dr in charge?
It isn't the end of the world, I just don't think the pharmacist was taking into acct what the dr wrote! Same token, what if the dr wrote for 8 pills and said to take one every 3 hours with 10 refills...I wouldn't be able to fill them again for 25 days? That is insane!
Any insight, anyone?
Let me guess..........script is out of Florida, yes???? If so, doctors, no matter what or how they prescribe, it is for a 30 day supply. The pharmacies cannot refill until then, even if dr/s instructions said take 60 a day. At least, this is how my last script/pharmacy told me.
Right???
Come ON.... With 175 posts this certainly isn't your first experience with an OP, so you KNOW how OP's operate, the DR's intention was NOT for you to be able to get a refill after 15 days. 120 count is very generous, you're trying to get blood from a stone.
Since you feel the pharmicist is not following the DR's written instructions, call the DR and tell him you take 8 a day as HE prescribed, you need your refill on day 15 "according to his instructions", and I'm sure he will take care of the problem for you.
