Help Quitting Anti-Depressant/Anxiety Meds new
      #118537 - 11/25/03 06:26 PM

Hello~
I just read thru the replies to "Which is worse in your opinion", & only myself & Junebug seem to agree that quitting Hydro is worse. I admit, I did have to taper off the Paxil, but once I did it, have had no cravings whatsoever to go back on them. If anyone is interested, I had found this site to be extremely helpful quitting Paxil, and as I stated in my other post, I now take 1000mg L-Tyrosine + 100mg Vitamin B6 daily which works great for me. I know that each of our body chemistry is different, & this may not work for some, but for those who are trying to quit Benzo's, you may want to give it a try...

GOOD LUCK!

Peace,

To me getting off of benzo's is one of the TOUGHEST drugs to get off of. It makes hydrocodone look like aspirin. To me the most difficult aspect of getting off of narcotics is Psychological.

The antidepressents that are used primarily as a first line treatment in generalized anxiety disorder work SO MUCH BETTER than benzo's but must be prescribed by someone that knows how to get an individual on them at the right dosage and then off of them (if that is what the patient wants).

Benzo's work great short term but the long term risks way outweigh any short term benefits that you may recieve.

Voyager~
I hear ya BIGTIME; I think another reason why this was easy for me is that I am still taking SOMETHING, you know, still "popping a pill"- even though it is natural (L-Tyrosine & Vitamin B6), which reportedly helps with our seratonin levels. Kinda like I am psyching myself out or something, I dont know.. (LOL)- what I do know is that it works for me-(maybe we better not tell my brain this, though)
Peace,
Julz
