I happen to be fortunate enough to have a good local doctor that is very caring and prescribes me what I need for my condition, but because I travel alot, I also use OP's (the legit ones, I.D./RECORDS/ETC..)My point is this..(and I'm not suggesting anyone do this at all, please don't misunderstand me) What would stop someone from changing the dates on a record before sending it to an OP to make them appear less than a year old or just creating their own records? Do the OP's call your physician and ask if it is a real or valid report. My doc knows I use OP's and because of my profession, I am required to undergoe a full blown, 4 alarm, break out the KY jelly and gloves type physical at least twice a year. . But everytime I ask my doc if so and so OP called to verify my records he just says "no, not yet, why do you ask?" Maybe my curiosity has gotten the best of me, once again and I'm quite sure I'll be flamed for even bringing this up, as the records issue is quite taboo, but why do they ask for records if they aren't going to call and verify the information. Flame on people, I'm now safely behind a firewall...but seriously, has anyone heard of an OP verifying your medical information?

I've thought the same thing but would never do it. Intentionally flasifying information like that is just too risky and can only lead to trouble. But I have wondered how many have done that. It is a relevant concern, I think.

I guess it is your butt if you do so. That is prolly why people tend to stay away from it. I also think that the vast majority of us are here for the right reasons and that it isn't in our nature to lie or falsify things. Just an opinion. The charge is pretty stiff I here for doing so and it is in that that I think it isn't done.

I know, I have also wondered how many have just downloaded a form off of an OP website and then falsified the info. Who knows, maybe the OPS call for verification, but not likely that they could call each and every person's Dr before they send meds...could take days to reach someone, especially w/the different time zones. Then again, you would have to "write like a Dr," and this is where you would most likely get caught. A stupid idea w/severe penalties, but this is also something I have wondered quietly to myself, yet did not want to post merely out of my own curiosity! I'm sure that some have done it, but not something you would want to try.

Interesting point you bring up. For instance - I have fibro, and that doesn't typically change from year to year and there is really no need for me to go to my doctor once a year to say - ok, I still have fibro - can you write that down and give me my records? So....I wondered about just updating the date myself, but of course dismissed it immediately.

You would have to know physicians jargon, etc. i know some have made up pain issues, ya know, the old knee injury, when filling out an online form for meds that didn't require consults.
Thought of this myself, when doing my last consult this week, my records became 1 year old 2 WEEKS AGO!!!
But, I tried something, I called our medical records dept, as my last visit had all my vitals, exams, etc., and asked them to fax the page directly to my doctor (she never asked where it was going to, luckily), I just gave her the dr/.s name and fax#. You would think she would have thought something, like a florida area code, and here i was telling her i had an appt with him that day.....
But never thought just to scribble on my current records with a newer date............my luck, I would get caught.
One of the PA's mentioned to me before, that anything that even looks fishy, altered, doesn't match, WILL GET DENIED so in my opinion, not worth it.
Recall helping one member a while back who got denied for this very reason, and she "supposively" hadn't touched them.

I had a feeling that others had wondered about it as well. I am way too chickens*#t to try it myself, but then again, I have all the records I need. I just told my doctors I was going for a surgical consult, in hopes that surgery would relieve the pain, and that I needed my records. They were more than happy to copy them for me. It was much easier than I thought it would be. The reason I brought this up though is because I see a lot of people here on DB relying on no record OP's, and now that they are a thing of the past, I wondered what these folks would do? I guess the walk-in clinics and port-0-medics business will pick up very soon if these people intend on getting the meds they desire. Thanks for all the input and honesty....

Good. Fraud or deceit to obtain a controlled substance is illegal under the laws of all 50 states.
