OK, first I wasn't sure where to post this although I have been posting (VIP) since Feb. But, I have been 'friends' with a young lady online since March. ....Irony coming... She works with a non-profit group whose purpose is to...educate and help to keep people, mainly youth, off of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs. I am (really) a very honest person, but have not told her of my (legitimate) need for Benzos because she mentioned a long time ago that they were one of the top drugs of choice these days for abusers. Well tonight we had a discussion/debate on the DEA, underprescribing Drs. (on my side); and overprescribing Drs., and how people get 'hooked' on scripts. (on her side). I get so frustrated trying to make her understand (and in all honesty I am sure she feels the same way). Any suggestions would be appreciated (articles, or whatever). One recent article comes to mind about the terminal patient writhing in pain because he couldn't get the meds he NEEDED.
Here's a catch though, my computer knowledge is hit and miss, I don't know how to cut and paste or edit an article (I definately wouldn't want her to know anything that I was sending was coming from something called Drugbuyers for obvious reasons (Although I reallty appreciate the site, the name has always SOUNDED elicit to me). I hope to get lots of suggestions on this, but please keep the negativity to a minimum, as all I want to do is convince someone who matters to me (and to all of us actually). Sorry so long. Thank you all in advance.

Hi,
I must start off by saying that you shouldn't be ashamed of your need for legitimate medication. Okay, that's it on that subject.
Now--there are loads of amazing articles, especially on the VIP Board, and mostly from Snooter, Jeremiah and APAP. Cutting and pasting is easy, and there's no way anyone will be able to tell where you've gotten your material from. First, open a new Word document. Then, go to the post and highlight the article (you know how to highlight, right?) Then click on Edit up there in the left hand corner of your screen, and click on Copy. Now go back to your document, hit Edit, and hit Paste. You will have, now, a document which will contain the article and you can save it, or delete portions, or do whatever you want with it. These articles are AMAZING! Great ammo for our side.
Hope that helps,
Sheena

Before copying anything from this site, I would be sure it is OK to do so. Obviously, if it's an article that is online, anyone can copy that. If it's someone's post, then I definately wouldn't copy it without checking it out with the Admin and the poster.
That said, there are plenty of studies, articles, etc. online that can be found and copied or simply printed out for her benefit. Good luck in your quest to change her mind.

So true. Thanks for that reminder. I was refering to articles (public info), but you certainly wouldn't want to copy people's individual posts. When Snooter posted articles on the VIP board, I asked her permission before even posting them here on the Free board. Thanks for the clarification.

I'm glad this was mentioned. I had copied someone's post from the "experiences" thread and posted it on the "questions" thread. Almost immediately after doing so, then re-reading the thread I felt like I had violated his privacy or something. I started to pm the poster then decided I would just edit my post and make a reference to the answer in the "experinces" thread. Needless to say when I went back to the original thread "the Poster" had already read my post and made an additional post. He didn't seem to be upset so I let it go at that but made a mental note to myself never to do it again!!!
At first I thought it would be ok since it was "within" DB just on different threads. WRONG!!! I then realized that I had "inserted" a poster into a thread that he might not have wanted to be a part of. Thank goodness I learned a lesson without causing anyone any unnecessary greif. It won't happen again.
And.."Poster Ba..... " you have my sincere apology

Point taken and understood. I wouldn't ever want to do something against someone elses wishes. Thanks y'all.
