Does anyone know what the name of the cough syrup just like this but not time released is?? I know there is some out there with hydrocodone in it that isn't time-released and my hubby has to go to doc today for possible ammonia and that was the cough syrup that the ER gave to him 2yrs ago so he wanted to specifically ask for that again because it worked so well!! Any help would be appreciated!! Feel free to PM with answer!

kjb,
My guess is Hycodan (generic is Hydromet or hydrocodone compound syrup). It has hydrocodone and homatropine.

There are a bunch of different cough syrups with hydrocodone in it, though. Hycodan is very popular and is more likely than not the one he is talking about.

Non-timed release hydrocodone products:

Vico-Tuss (also generic, i believe it is called hydro-tussin)

I also believe one of the codimal products is also equivalent.

I don't know if the following is cough syrup or not but...

I was prescribed on many occasions Lortab Elixir (it also comes in generic) with was just 240mL of hydrocodone/APAP at a 7.5/750mg ratio. It also contained a bit of alcohol and had a fruit punch flavor. It was prescribed to me to get hydro it to me without having to swallow big pills.

Anyways, the local Eckerds and grocery store pharmacies had it in stock. It comes in a 240mL "flask". And this was not time released. Hit the system in something like 5 minutes.

Sounds better than swallowing those horse pills.
