I Am living with a Brain stem glioma and have been on vicodin for about eight months.Recently I have ben terribly depressed and I was wondering if it could be the medication. I take vicodin and Lortab. This is a real emergency and you all have been a great support in the past although this is my first post but I read your suggestions often. Please respond and if you would like to Privately help me through your experience that would be greatly appreciated. You can write me at

Tina, do you have any history of depression prior to your opiate use?

I don't know about your condition but if it has the end results that are not the best "it could be the condition as well" i know that may sound silly not being funny but sometimes we can't see things when we are going through them. Only financial issues get me down. I can't say how I am able to get through those times sense it might "offend" someone. i will pm you later though and tell you some problems I have worked through.

I understand this. I battle with depression too . ( i take vicodin as well , but that isnt my particular problem ) I did try zoloft , and it didnt help any. But apparently ( anyone who knows about this more than me , please jump in ) there is a new drug , its like zoloft and paxil, but it works with the seratonin?? mispelled? and ANOTHER chemical in the brain as well ( paxil and zoloft etc only work with the 1 chemichal in the brain - this new drug works with 2 chemichals ) I cannot think of the name of the drug. If anyone knows , post it. You can get it online, and you may want to try it . - shoot , I may want to try it as well!!

I believe you are thinking of Lexapro. It didn't help me at all - neither did Zoloft. So, if Zoloft wasn't for you, maybe this isn't either. Hard to say, though. Everyone is different. Good Luck!

Thats it!!!! Lexapro - Who knows , it may not help me either. It depends on how much it costs if i will try it. But maybe the origional poster can try it out. All i know is that its supposed to be better than the other dpression meds.
