II am going to see a PM doc for the first time in 14 days. Now the way most systems work around here, the specialists don't actually prescribe anything. Instead, they see you as infrequently as they possibly can. making prescriptions for PT, orthotic devices, and refillable NSAIDS, and repporting to your family doctor any suggestions they have in the Matter of your (monthly) prescriptions for C-IIs.
Mt interactions wit them indicate that they just aren't set up for the sort of draconion enforcement of the Opioid Contract I've posted about here. If it took me 3 months to get an intake, I doubt they have much spare time to call me in randomly for toxiclogy screens and pill-counting, and if their polic is to see see patients no more than afew times per year, I somehow doub they spend hundreds of dollars on comprehensive drug tests on newcomers covered only by Medicaid.
I want to make my best impression on them. See, my regular insruance expires at the end of this year. I need them to either help me find a family foc that takes Mediciad (better) or have the doctor I see agree to see me monthly and ocassionally prescribe zithromax. I also want off of Morphine .
Maybe I'm not on enough to kill the pain, but my generic script is already costing around $350 dollars a month. I hurt all the time. Oral morphine is an ineficient painkiller, but when my back doctor finally recommended a a*real* painkille back in June, after a mid-back injury had gotten more, rathean less painful over the course of about 7-8 weeks. The dusokacenents I have viewable by MRI are all dic bulges (3-p mm) in the lumbar region) and nobody can fugre out what it's from. I have TENS unit, heating pad, ice pads in the freezer]
I basically want the doctor to precribe a stronger med. I am assuming as a pain specialist he knowes the innefficacyof oral morphine and will prescribe what is the only
viable altenative , oxycontin. I realize that, as stronger pian med, he would probably wany to reduce 40mg TID, maybe even give me a small prn script of d breakhthrough med since the lomg-acting one's take two hrs to kick in.
Oka. No, I'm off topic. I have two simple questions:
1) When a doctor does one of those expensive, precise, tests, what are the results if you take a drug commercially unvailable ( not illegal) in yout country? I'm thinking of benzos like the above listed as well as zopiclone?
2)Can anyone point me to a site that will give me more comprehensive listings of the time range for which different drugs are detectable in your urine? I went to erowid.org and theyonly gave the lengths for valium and alrpazolam, which is all good, but the rest of the drug discussed were not "pharmaceutical", and that's what I'm concerend with. HEELP!
Very skleeep deprived. Evidence: see se same-leter repetitions infuced by passing out on keyn=baord

Zopiclone will not show up - it isn't licensed in the US, and they will not test for it. The others - well, other people will be btter informed than me to let you know.

Niether are bromazepam, nitrazepam, most of the meds I take. But I don't know whether it will be a NIDA-5 (where they just test for the general presence of ANY benzo, opiate, coke, PCP, or MJ (I think)) or one of the more complicated lests they send off to the lab to test for every possible variant they choose. (Would they opt to choose for meprobamate? Hmmmm. . .)
We'll see. No more valium for me, that's for sure. Active metabolites, according to the benzo.org.uk website, stay up to 200 hours.

I've got an appointment to see a new PM in Jan. I fired my old PM doc for acting very inappropriately. Anyway, I never had to sign a contract or anything with the previous doctor. I just got all the paperwork for my new doc, and there is a narcotic contract with it. Do you think he will also do a drug test? I take valium and soma sporadically, but have no script for them. Any input is appreciated.

Its a definite possibility. If the new PM doctor is reputed to be compassionate & you really want him to work with you, I'd suggest stopping usage of the Valium and Soma if possible. As an alternative, you might want to see if you can get even a small one-time script for one or both meds from a psychiatrist (normally more liberal than other MDs) or urgent care center so you have a script to produce if necessary.
Good Luck!
